アフリカ事情：鉱山事故

　10～20年前の中国を想起すればよい。急激な経済成長の数字の背後には、そりゃあなにかしらの無理が働いていることが―と。中国の場合、それは1日あたり10人以上の炭鉱事故死者だったりしたわけだが―アフリカの場合、どうも炭鉱ではないな。希少金属の類のような感。

　違法採掘はやめろ！と指導しているのに、こっそり夜間に掘りにいく―という。そうして軟弱な地盤のところが崩落し、えらいこと多数の人間が生き埋めになったっぽいが、しかし地方住民は操作に非協力的だし地盤が軟弱で救出作業も困難で、あきらめてしまった―と言う記事。

　こっちは、違法採掘業者の機材を燃やしちまったという記事。放置しておくと、少年が従事して事故で失われて―という嫌なループに入り込むし、実際、何らかの手立ては必要。
