  Then comes Holy Saturday.  Immediately you feel a differ-
ent atmosphere when you come near the church.  In front of
it is a pile of wood and people standing around with lanterns
in their hands.   These are the same peasants  who walk for
hours  during the week of Avdent  to the frozen little church.
The door of the church opens,  and the priest comes out with
the two altar boys and the sacristan.

　それから「聖土曜日」がやって来ます．　教会に近づけば
たちまちこれまでと変わった雰囲気に包まれます．教会の前
には木片が積み上げてあって、その周りに会衆は提灯を手に
もって立っています．この人たちこそは降臨節の間、何時間
も歩いて凍える小さなにやって来る貧しい農民たちなのです．
教会のドアが開きます．すると司祭が２人の小ぼんちゃんと
御宝前係を連れて出てきます．
