なんか、イスラエルロビーに関する本が世界同時発売されていたらしい。
当然のように？日本語版も発売されていた・・・。

この英語版では、どういうわけか後書が106ページにも及ぶとか。
元が2006年3月に出された論文で、単行本にする際に内容を膨らましたというが・・・。
元の論文自体↓、WEB で読むには長すぎるっての（汗）。

で、最初に紹介したIMEU のレビューに話を戻す。
以下の引用部分（中盤あたり）が、この本と論文の（ある意味）真っ当な評価になっている模様。
＞This book does much to expose the unsavory practice and is intended to open space for substantive discussion regarding Israel and the lobby that reflexively backs it, right or wrong.
例の論文に関しては、様々な批判が行われたようだが面倒なんでリンク張りは省略。
俺が疑問に思ったのは、元の論文の最後から2段落目でイスラエルとパレスチナの今後について書かれていること。
この部分で作者（John J. Mearsheimer氏と Stephen M. Walt氏）は以下のように述べているのだが・・・。
＞Finally, the Lobby’s influence has been bad for Israel.
＞ Its ability to persuade Washington to support an expansionist agenda has discouraged Israel from seizing opportunities -- including a peace treaty with Syria and a prompt and full implementation of the Oslo Accords -- that would have saved Israeli lives and shrunk the ranks of Palestinian extremists.
＞ Denying the Palestinians their legitimate political rights certainly has not made Israel more secure, and the long campaign to kill or marginalise a generation of Palestinian leaders has empowered extremist groups like Hamas, and reduced the number of Palestinian leaders who would be willing to accept a fair settlement and able to make it work.
＞ Israel itself would probably be better off if the Lobby were less powerful and US policy more even-handed.

作者の立場からすれば、イスラエルの存在を否定できないんだろうが・・・。
基本的には、イスラエルとパレスチナがそれぞれ独立国家を作るという見解を暗に支持していると言える。
そもそも、オスロ合意自体2つの国家を作るという目標があるしな。
ま、2006年の論文自体イスラエルロビーや米の外交に関する考察が主だから、他が弱めになりがちなのは止むを得ないんだろうが・・・。
ちなみに、これを書いてる時点で英語版は $26。
日本語版は、1,890円。
ただ、日本語版がアレな出来らしいので、英語版を読んだほうがいい？
