２２．３ 「非常に容易である」という意をもつ例
「非常に容易である」という含み持つ表現として、日本語には「赤子の手をひねるよう」、「朝飯前」、「お茶の子さいさい」、「ちょろい」、「屁でもない」、「屁の河童」、「目をつぶっていても」、「楽勝」などがある。一方、英語には「a breeze」、「child's play」、「a cinch」、「duck soup」、「(as) easy as (apple) pie」、「(as) easy as ABC」、「hands down」、「like taking candy from a baby」、「no sweat」、「a piece of cake」、「a snap」、「with one's eyes closed [shut]」、「with one hand [arm] (tied) behind one's back」などがある。このうち、日本語の「目をつぶっていても」と英語の「with one's eyes closed [shut]」がほぼおなじ表現になっている。また、日本語の「赤子の手をひねるよう」と英語の「like taking candy from a baby」も表現は異なるが、「赤子」を使った発想が一致している。
