２２．５ 「大笑いする」という意をもつ例
「大笑いすること」を記述する表現として、日本語には「腹（おなか）が痛くなる」、「腹が裂ける」、「腹の皮がよじれる」、「腹を抱えて笑う」、「抱腹絶倒する」、「笑い転げる」などがある。一方、英語には「a belly laugh」、「burst one's sides laughing [with laughter]」、「have [keep] someone in stitches」、「be in stitches」、「have [keep] them ['em] rolling in the aisles」、「hold one's sides with laughter」、「roll someone in the aisles」、「be rolling in the aisles」、「laugh one's head off」、「split one's sides laughing [with laughter]」、「side-splitting」などがある。このうち、「be in stitches」と「腹が痛くなる」、「burst one's sides laughing [with laughter]」と「腹が裂ける」、「be rolling in the aisles」と「笑い転げる」が似たような表現になっている。
（１） 腹が裂ける
