ある授業でのこと

今日の授業はとても印象的な授業だった。
というのは、アメリカに来てこんなに素晴らしい授業を受けたのは初めてだった。

今日の授業のタイトルは「Planning Issues in Developing Nations」というので、
主に途上国の計画する時に直面する問題を色々な記事を読んで広く理解するのが授業の目的だ。

都市計画学科の４年生と大学院生が履修可能な教科だったけど全部で１０人ほどしかいなく、
こじんまりとした教室にみんなが見事にすっぽりと入ってしまった。
先生の授業スタイルはリーディングの課題をもとに生徒にディスカッションをさせ、
それを通してお互いの理解を深めるというのだった。
先生はあくまでディスカッションが正しい方向に進むような補助役ようだった。

ちなみに今日の議論の元となったリーディングの教材は以下のものだった；

といったようなものを読んだ。

このように様々なジャーナルを読む利点としては多くの問題が包括に見れるということ。
欠点としては多くの記事をどう有機的に結びつけて正しく理解できるか、
さらにはそれらの問題をどれだけ掘りさげられるか、がこれからの課題となりそうだ。
