　2006年3月3日、高知県の仁淀中学の卒業遠足で、生徒と教員計25名を乗せたスクールバスに白バイが衝突し、白バイを運転していた巡査長が死亡した。この事故で、バス運転手・片岡晴彦氏は、業務上過失致死容疑で逮捕・起訴された。

　このバスに乗り合わせていた生徒・教員や、バスのすぐ後ろの車に乗車していた中学の校長らは、「バスは動いていない」と証言している。しかし、地裁や上級審でも、死亡隊員の仲間による「バスは動いていた」という証言が認められ、有罪が確定、片岡氏は服役した。

 

　2月26日（木）に行なわれた「第68回日本の司法を正す会」は、再審請求中である片岡氏を招き、この高知白バイ・スクールバス事故を取り上げた。
