ココパームスホテルにて24時間の祈り

以前このプログで「ココパームスホテルその後」を書かせて頂きましたが、今現在工事は行われていないようです。その場所で以下のイベントがあることをプアナニさんから教えて頂きました。

2005年6月17日の正午から18日の正午まで24時間の徹夜の祈りがあります。ハワイ全島からクムフラやそのハラウのメンバーが、地元民と一緒に集い、フラ、チャント、祈りを行います。
この徹夜の祈りは、私達の祖先と、現在ココパームスホテルが建っているWailua-nui-a-hoana地区を源とする彼らのスピリット（魂）をたたえ敬意を払う目的で行われます。
このイベントは、我々の世代が祖先を敬い儀式を行ったということを後の世代に知ってもらうために記録に残されることでしょう。またそこには歴史的な大きな椰子林もあります

Numerous kumu hula (hula teachers) and their students as well as people of
the community, will be gathering on the grounds of the old Coco Palms Hotel
for a 24 hour prayer vigil. This invitation is being sent to all islands of
Hawaii.

Date: June 17th to June 18th, 2005
Time: Noon to Noon the next day

The purpose of the vigil to to honor and pay our respects to our ancestors
and their spirits that come from the Wailua-nui-a-hoana area, where the Coco
Palms is located. It will be documented for future generations to know that
we of the present generation have done our part of proper respect and
protocol to honor our ancestors. There is also a large historic coconut
grove there.

私はこれから開発が進まれるであろう場所で、こうしたセレモニーを行うことに、Malama Ainaの気持ちを感じています。
