方便品第二（その９）

その時、舎利弗が
At that time, Shariputra
四衆（比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷）の心に疑いがあることを知る
Knowing that the fourfold assembly harbors doubt
自分もまた理解していない
He himself had not yet understood
そして仏に申し上げた
And addressed the Buddha
世尊（仏陀）
The World-Honored One (the Buddha)
何の原因で、何の縁によるものか
For what reason, for what cause?
丁寧に称賛する
Earnestly and respectfully praising
諸仏が用いる最も優れた方便
The foremost skillful means of all Buddhas
非常に深遠で微妙な
Extremely profound and subtle
理解が難しい仏法
The Dharma that is difficult to understand
私は昔から
I, since long ago
仏に従いつつ一度もない
I have never followed the Buddha.
このように説かれたことを聞く
Hearing such teachings
今ここにいる四衆（比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷）
Now, the fourfold assembly
みな、疑いを持っている
All have doubts
ただ世尊（仏陀）に願う
We only ask the World-Honored One
この事柄を広く解き明かす
Explain and expound this matter
世尊はなぜ
Why does the World-Honored One?
丁寧に称賛する
Earnestly and respectfully praising
非常に深遠で微妙な
Extremely profound and subtle
理解が難しい仏法
The Dharma that is difficult to understand
その時、舎利弗が
At that time, Shariputra
この義（意義）を再び広めようとする
Wishing to again expound this meaning
