フェイスブックを創設した億万長者が、自身が所有するフェイスブック関連資産のほとんど全てを、慈善活動に寄付すると約束しました。マーク・ザッカーバーグ氏が、自身が保有している株式の９９パーセント、金額にして４５０億ドル以上（約５兆円）を譲り渡すと表明したのです。
The billionaire founder of Facebook has pledged to donate nearly everything he owns in the site to charity. Mark Zuckerberg says he will give up 99 percent of his shares, worth more than 45 billion dollars.
Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan made the promise in an open letter to their newborn daughter, Max. They posted the message on Zuckerberg's Facebook page. The couple say they want to make the world a better place for all children and to "advance human potential."
They say they've created a foundation to support the health and education of young people, and they will donate the stock in phases.
Zuckerberg and Chan write that all lives have equal value and society should invest now to help future generations.
ザッカーバーグ氏と妻のプリシラ・チャン氏は、生まれたばかりの娘マックスちゃんへの公開書簡の中で、この約束をしました。夫妻は、ザッカ―バーグ氏自身のフェイスブックのページにこのメッセージを投稿し、全ての子供たちにとって世界がより良くなることを、そして「人間の潜在能力を高める」ことを望んでいると述べています。
