back to NYC

This family trip back to NY was planned during this new year holiday break and now we, four of us all, are back in NY in 17 years.

My little sister now lives in an apartment in Brooklyn so that's where I'm staying for a week.

For us, going to NYC is nothing like a tour to overseas but a home coming. So what we do mostly here is to find out what have changed and what have not.

Thanks to my little sister who always checks out new nice places to eat, see, walk, and listen we never have to go thru thick guidbooks which become outdated so qickly.

Change No.1, a taxi from JFK, there are box cars other than sedans, and there is a credit card machine on the partition between rear seats and a driver.
So no more worries to get dollars for taxi at arrival.

Before dinner we walked around the neighborhood of where my parents are staying, which is lower east side.

Change No.2, there seems to be more and more cafes which serve organic drink and food, and RICE is no exception. New Yorkers were eating noodles and rice with chopsticks.

My little sister joined after work for first family get together dinner in the city. Antibes serves vegetables in such a pretty way and I regret taking photos of them. Well it is too dark to take photos in most of the restaurants in NY.
Trying to remenber what I ordered, roquefort and Poached Peach Salad with arugula and toasted walnuts, Pan seard Tuna with artichoke hearts and caramelized leek, and a bottle of red wine, yum yum!!

Antibes on Suffolk St, NY

Friday night in the city is sleepless although it seems the city never sleeps, so we went to another bar called Rockwood Music Hall.
They have live music performances hourly and when we walked in a woman was singing songs like falk and easy listening with live piano. Her voice wasn't bad at all but it was somehow a boring performance.
But it is nice that there are so many places like this where you can just hop in without plans and spend sleepless fridays.

Staying in NY, we walk a lot, not that I noticed I walked so much, but I walked 13930 steps today.

You have a five-star tour guide in NYC, I envy you.
I'd like to go there someday. If the opportunity arises, can I ask you to guide me? lol
