Aristotle ( 384B.C.-322B.C.) was a Greek philosopher whose system of logical analysis -

formed one of the main bases of the philosophical thought of Western civilization. The "ladder of nature" , in which all natural objects -

had their place, was central to his thinking. He was a founder of a school (Lyceum) outside Athens and a pupil of Plato -

as well as the tutor of Alexander the Great. He is well-known as "the Father of all the sciences",

since his works cover a vast range of subjects, including logic, ethics, metaphysics, politics, biology and physics, -

constituting the first comprehensive system of Western philosophy.

Later, his philosophical work influenced Islamic and Christian medieval philosophies.

Plato (427B.C.-347B.C.) was a Greek philosopher, who was one of the outstanding founders of Western philosophy and the founder of idealism.

He based his philosophical reasoning on the principle of idea or form, which holds that all objects have -

their pure and ideal archetypes or paragons behind themselves which go beyond our sense-impressions.

He was the founder of 'the Academy' in Athens and a disciple of Socrates as well as the teacher of Aristotle.

His philosophical writings are presented in the form of dialogues including 'the Timaeus' and 'the Symposium',

which features Socrates as the principal speaker. Plato wrote about political theories in 'the Republic',

in which he argued that Philosopher kings, who have wisdom and knowledge, are the best rulers of the ideal city-state.

Socrates(469B.C-399B.C.) was a classical Greek (Athenian) philosopher and one of the founders of Western philosophy,-

who made important contributions to the branches of ethics and epistemology. He created a method of eliciting truth,-

which is called the Socratic method or elenchus. His method is based on the dialogue with the repetition of questions and answers-

summed up in the phrase,"Know thyself", through which one is made aware of one's own ignorance.

He spent his life in the pursuit of ethical concepts or virtue (arete) to live well.

Charged with introducing strange gods and corrupting the young, he was sentenced to death and killed by drinking hemlock.

His thoughts are known chiefly through the writings of his students including Plato and Xenophon.

Considered as the oldest religion in the world, Hinduism is the dominant religion of the Indian subcontinent, -

consisting of many diverse traditions including Shivaism, Vaishnavism, and Shaktism. It embraces a wide spectrum of laws -

and prescriptions of "daily morality" based on karma, dharma, and social norms.

Western scholars regard Hinduism as a syncretism of various Indian cultures and traditions with no single founder.

Hindu practices include daily rituals such as worship and recitations, annual festivals, occasional pilgrimages.

Christianity is the world largest monotheistic religion founded by the followers of Jesus of Nazareth.

Most Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, and the savior of humanity -

whose arrival was prophesies in the Old Testament. They believe that Jesus was crucified and then resurrected from the dead -

to grant eternal life to those who believe in him for the remission of their sins.

The creeds further maintain that Jesus bodily ascended into heaven, where he reigns with God the Father.

The term "gospel" refers to written accounts of Jesus's life and teachings, four of which - the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John -

are considered canonical and included in Christian Bibles.

Zen(Buddhism), derived from the Sanskrit term dhyana meaning "meditation", is a form of Buddhism popular in Chine, Korea and Japan.

Zen focuses on direct spiritual breakthroughs to the truth. Zen teachings hold that when you transcend thoughts and fixations -

on the "I" and wake up to the reality of life working beyond them, you have an awakening to a self that is living a universal -

non-dual life pervading all living creatures and all existence.Often full of paradox, Zen teachings facilitate the penetration-

into the realm of the true self or formless self, which is equated with the Buddha himself.

Isram is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion based on the Quran and the teachings of Muhammad, who is considered by its adherents,-

Muslims, to be the last prophet of God. Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable and that Islam is the complete-

and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed before many times throughout the world.

Considering the previous revelations misinterpreted or altered over time, they viewed the Arabic Quran as the final revelation of God.

The five pillars of Islam include obligatory acts of worship and following Islamic law, which touches on virtually every aspect of life.

Confucianism is an ethical and philosophical system developed from the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Confucius.

The core of Confucianism is humanism which emphasizes loyalty to your family, friends, and rulers as well as the cultivation of virtue-

and maintenance of ethics. It is based on the belief that human beings are teachable and improvable through personal and communal endeavor.

The basic Confucian ethical concepts and practices include ren(altruism and humaneness for others),

yi(upholding of righteousness and moral disposition), and li(system of ritual norms and propriety),

and zhi(the ability to see what is right and fair in others' behaviors).

Taoism, or Daoism, is a philosophical, ethical, and religious tradition of Chinese origin that emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao-

meaning "way", "path" or "principle". Taoism values mystical contemplation and balance, viewing human beings as a microcosm of the universe-

and the Chinese concept of yin-yang(complementary duality) as a model of harmony. Taoist schools traditionally have reverence for Laozi,-

ancestors, various divination and exorcism rituals, and practices for achieving longevity or immortality.

Throughout history, Taoism has been closely connected with Chinese astrology, Chan(Zen) Buddhism, several martial arts,-

Shinto is the indigenous and the largest religion of Japan with no formal dogma or no holy writ.

Shinto has 100,000 shrines and 20,000 priests in the country. Shinto today is a term that applies to the religion of public shrines-

devoted to the worship of a multitude of gods(kami) for various purposes including war memorials and harvest festivals.

Kami are defined in English as "spirits" or "gods", referring to the energy generating the phenomena or divine essence-

that manifests in various forms including rocks, animals, places, and people.

Kami and people coexist within the same world and share interrelated complexities.
