Aristotle ( 384B.C.-322B.C.) was a Greek philosopher whose system of logical analysis -

formed one of the main bases of the philosophical thought of Western civilization. The "ladder of nature" , in which all natural objects -

had their place, was central to his thinking. He was a founder of a school (Lyceum) outside Athens and a pupil of Plato -

as well as the tutor of Alexander the Great. He is well-known as "the Father of all the sciences",

since his works cover a vast range of subjects, including logic, ethics, metaphysics, politics, biology and physics, -

constituting the first comprehensive system of Western philosophy.

Later, his philosophical work influenced Islamic and Christian medieval philosophies.

who contributed greatly to the establishment of modern philosophy along with Descartes..

He created a method of acquiring scientific knowledge, based on observation and experiment, -

which has been a basic tool of scientists ever since.Known as the 'inductive method', it has formed general laws and principles -

based on individual instances. Bacon attempted to properly understand and conquer nature, -

which is summed up in the phrase 'knowledge is power.' His philosophy is characterized -

by the elimination of preconceived notions called 'idola' or idols.
