方便品第二（その２９）

今、私はまたこのようである
Now I am also like this
衆生を安穏にするために
For the peace of all beings
種々の法門によって
Through various Dharma gates
仏道において宣べ示す
Proclaim and reveal the Buddha path
私は智慧の力によって
I, through the power of wisdom
衆生の性質や欲を知る
Knowing the nature and desires of beings
方便をもって諸々の法を説く
Teach various Dharmas with expedients
皆を喜びを得させる
Make all attain joy
舎利弗よ、まさに知るべきである
Shariputra, you should know
私は仏眼によって観る
I observe with the Buddha's eye
六道の衆生を見る
See sentient beings in the six realms
貧しく、福徳も智慧も無い
Destitute, lacking blessings and wisdom
生死の険しい道に入る
Enter the perilous path of birth and death
苦しみが相続して断たれない
Suffering continues unceasingly
五欲に深く執着する
Deeply attached to the five desires
ヤク（牛の一種）が尾を愛するように
Like a yak cherishing its tail
貪愛によって自らを覆う
Covered by greed and attachment
盲目で目を閉じ、何も見えない
Blind, closed-eyed, and unable to see


大勢の仏を求めない
Do not seek the Great Power Buddha
および苦しみを断つ法
And the Dharma of cutting off suffering
深く諸々の邪見に入り込む
Deeply entering various wrong views
苦しむことで苦しみを捨てようとする
Seeking to abandon suffering with suffering
この衆生のためのゆえに
For the sake of these beings
しかも大いなる哀れみの心を起こす
Thus arousing great compassion
私は道場に初めて座る
When I first sat in the dojo
樹を観察し、また経を修行する
Observing trees and also walking
三・七日の間において
Within twenty-one days
このような事（さまざまな物事）を熟考する
Contemplating such matters
私が得た智慧
The wisdom I have attained
最も微細で妙なるもの
The most subtle and supreme
諸々の衆生の根は鈍い
The faculties of beings are dull
楽しみに執着し、無知によって盲目となる
Attached to pleasure, blinded by ignorance
このような等しい種類
Such kinds of beings
いかにして救済することができるか
How can they be saved?
