a new swimwear

I went to Shibuya to look for a new pair of swim shorts the day before yesterday. 

Then, I got this one at H&M.  It was literally the only and last swimwear left at the store, but the price was amazingly low, only 399 Yen including tax. So I bought it as soon as found it without heeding too much.

My wife burst out laughing when I got home and showed her the one I got.  She laughed like hell and cried like, “How, 😂😂😂 how, haha 😂😂😂, could you buy such a piece of crap‼️🤣🤣🤣”

She couldn't help herself to stop laughing.  I also felt it funny at first, but it gradually made me annoyed.  So, I said, “What’s wrong with them?  I thought they were rather unique and funky!”

She was still laughing.  She said, “Yeah, Indeed!  But, but, haha🤣🤣🤣, it just looks like a grandpa's underwater or something!!”

Well, she might be right if she thought so.  I’d better to agree with her because she’s been involving in the fashion industry for many years, I mean she is a virtuoso.  Suddenly, the swimwear that I got had become to seem to be “a piece of crap” to me too.😫

８月も終わりだというのに暑いですね。

英文は何年振りかに水着を新調するため渋谷に行き、H&Mで３９９円（税込）という破格の値段で叩き売られていた物を購入して妻に見せたら「あり得ん」と散々笑われたという話です。

カメラを鋭い目線で見据え、原稿を見ずに強い言葉を発するのはいつもながら流石。こんなんで”hant you down & make you pay!”なんて言われたらチビってしまいそう😭。どこかの首相も見習って欲しいです🙄。

The Magic Mountain

表題の"The Magic Mountain"はトーマス・マンの代表作「魔の山」の英語名。「魔」は「魔」でも「魔法」の「魔」に近い意味だと初めて知りました。原題（ドイツ語）も"Der Zauberberg"。zauber=magic、berg=mountainだそうです（popraさん、合ってますかね？）。

先日本棚を整理してたら文庫本の上下巻が出てきて、懐かしく思い、英語訳を読んでみることにしました。

日々の英語学習の一環として英語の本の読書は続けています。ここのところは"The Lord of the Rings"を最初から読み始めて二巡目を楽しんでいました。

その季節に合う、読みたくなる本ってあると思うんですよ。「魔の山」は私にとって夏を彷彿させる、夏になると読みたくなる本です（物語の最初の季節が夏ということもあるし、村上春樹のノルウェーの森でワタナベ君が直子が暮らす京都の山奥の寮を訪れた時に持参した本がこの魔の山で、季節は夏だったという印象も強い）。

古い作品なので"The Great Gatsby"同様、これだけの大作が電子書籍だと無料で入手できるのも良いですね。"The Lord of the Rings"ほどではありませんが、長編の上、難解な所も多いので読み終える頃には夏が終わるどころか桜が咲き始めているかもしれません。

I enjoyed basking in the afternoon sunshine while kids were playing in the kitty pool placed on the balcony. 

一周年

Today is a remarkable day for me.  I quit smoking on the same day last year.  So today is a commemoration for celebrating my first anniversary of the oath!

今日は禁煙してからちょうど一年経った日です。私の人生に於いて、これはなかなか記念すべき日です。何故なら酒は止められてもタバコだけは一生止めることが出来ないと真剣に考えていたからです。なので今日という日は人間、やろうと思えば何でもできるものだなあと振り返る日でもあります。

あと、この時期で思い出すのが通訳案内士の一次試験の勉強です。私は２０１５年の９月の初めに受けました。６年前の今頃は日々机に向かっていたと思います。同年の５月に試験勉強を始めたばかりだったので数年かけて合格できないものかなあと思っていたら、奇跡的に受かっていました。これも禁煙同様、人間、何でも無理だと最初から決めつけず、とにかくやってみれば道は切り拓けるのだという、教訓というか、私の糧となっています。

今年の一次試験は９月２６日（日曜日）だそうですね。受験生の皆様のご健闘をお祈りしています。

２０１６年のちょうど今頃に撮影した浅草寺の境内。まだ通訳案内士試験（二次）に合格する前でした。アメリカに住んでいる従兄弟が遊びに来てくれて、浅草や浜離宮などを案内しました。

I had a day off yesterday.  We went to the artificial beach located near Omori again.  The last time we went there was at the end of May.  

We had trusted the weather forecast until it started pouring all of sudden as soon as we got there. 

I hastily installed a folding tent that I brought on the ground under a big tree, then we all got into the tent to evacuate from the terrible rainfall. 

It was a rather storm, heavy rain and strong wind blowing like a hell. Soon, the bottom of the tent on which our butts were set got submerged and drenched, so I let my kids sit on my lap. 

My wife cried, “This is a fucking farce!” as she was clenching the front part of the tent, which was billowing in the strong wind.  My two kids seemed to be scared too, so I started drinking a can of beer and trying to relax and calm them. 

We also had lunch inside the tent. Kids seemed to be very hungry, so that would make them feel at ease.  By the time we’d finished Onigiri lunch, it stopped raining.  And the strong ray of sunlight appeared between the clouds.  

We got out of the tent and saw a beautiful rainbow across the beach.  And most people had evacuated and gone while raining, so no one was around us.  It felt like we were at a private beach in a famous beach resort or somewhere!  

５月末に家族で訪れた、大田区にある「人工ビーチ」へ昨日再び行ってきました。

昼頃家を出た時、背後に厚い雲が見えてましたが天気予報では特に何も言っていなかったのでそれほど気にしてませんでした。

ところが公園に到着してすぐに、ポツリと雨を感じたと思った次の瞬間、滝のような雨が降ってきたのです。ドンキで買った簡易テントを大きなクスノキの下に広げ、急いで皆で中に避難しました。

文字通り土砂降り。おまけに風も強く嵐のよう。お尻を置いていた床面はすぐに浸水し水浸しに☔️。日差しを防ぐのが本来の目的の薄っぺらいテントなので上からも横からも雨が進入してきました。

妻も子供もビビった様子。私は何故か面白く感じてきました。雨は一向に止む様子がないので、公園に来る前に寄ったコンビニで買ってきたビールを飲み、子供達はお昼を雨漏りが激しいテント内で食べることにしました。

そのうちに雨は止み、明るい陽射しが差してきました。子供達はさっそくビーチまで降りていって大はしゃぎで波打ち際で遊んでいました。

着いた時にはそこそこいた人もいつの間にかほとんど帰ってしまい、近くには誰もおらず何だかどこかのリゾートのプライベートビーチにいるような気分になってきました。

こう切り取ると、水もキレイに見え、背後の建物もリゾートホテルかコンドみたいに見えませんか❓とても大森の海だとは思えません。

対岸を見たらダメですね😝。いかにも大田区の海沿いの殺風景な眺め。でも虹がきれいにかかっていたんです。

昨日は家族と夏休みらしい、とても充実した一日を過ごすことができました。
