On June 10, 2020, the Greek Orthodox Church banned yoga outright as "absolutely incompatible" with Christianity, calling it not an exercise, but an act of worship, a fundamental part of the pantheistic cult of Hinduism. As such, Christians can have nothing to do with it; otherwise they commit the grave sin of Syncretism (renamed by the Vatican II Anti-council as "Oecumenism"). The term yoga comes from the Sanskrit for "joining" or "uniting."
In contrast to the clarity of the Greek Orthodox moral teaching, the Newchurch of the New Order in many places promotes this pagan practice. In India, where pagan Hinduism arose, most regional and national Newchurch seminaries are reported to use it as part of their daily routine, complete with the intoning not of the Gregorian chant, but the mantras of paganism. True Catholics, Yoga is also intimately connected to the belief in reincarnation, which is specifically condemned by Our Lord and by St. Paul. Yoga is unquestionably contrary to the teaching of the Catholic Church. There are many unexceptionable ways to get exercise without resorting to pantheism, paganism, and syncretism.
