今回は昨日の続き。
毎年恒例となった、和歌山県太地町で行われてるイルカ漁。
昨日の事になるが、捕獲したイルカに銛を打ち込む（殺害）作業が再び行われたとか。

一応、若いイルカは逃した、という話らしいけど、この事情について太地町で行われる今年のイルカ漁を監視（つーか報告？）する計画の責任者であり天下の Sea Shepherd のメンバーである Scott West 氏が意味深な見解を示していた。

By this time though, outraged people all over the planet had heard about the plight of this family of dolphins and increased the pressure on Japanese embassies and consulates.
Japanese government officials are feeling this pressure and so are the “fishermen” in Taiji.
There are even challenges to the Mayor of Taiji coming from within the City Council because of the pressure.
The result is that the dolphin slayers are panicking.
They have no idea how to deal with the onslaught.
Scrambling for a solution, they decided to appease the world by sparing six juveniles.
These six children are all that remain of a complex family unit.
These six, while large enough to not have to depend upon their mother’s milk for sustenance, nonetheless depended upon the experienced adults in their community to lead the way and to teach them what they need to know.
These six did not know what to do when the slayers released them.
They did not move quickly out to sea for they had no one to lead them.
How could they run away when the rest of their family had be brutally slaughtered within their sight and hearing?
Where are they to go?

ま、国外からの圧力ってのはともかく。
6頭の若いイルカだけ海に帰しても、そのままだと生き残れるかどうかは確かに疑問だわな。
普通に考えれば、別の群れ（多分その一部も捕獲されることになる）に合流できればなんとか・・・って気もするけど。
新しい群れに合流するのも結構一苦労ってことを考えると、太地町の漁師の方々も結構残酷なことをしたようで（謎笑）
だが、一昨日の作業の最中には一悶着あったらしい。
つーのも、Watson 船長の指令を受けた West 氏が、漁師の方々に「俺達がイルカを買う（金を払う）から、イルカを逃がしてくれ」とのたまったとか。
当然、漁師の方々はこれを断ったけど・・・。

Captain Paul Watson authorized me to make a deal with the fishermen.
We arranged to speak with a senior fisherman and offered to pay the fishermen the “value” of these dolphins if they would agree to set the dolphins free.
Sea Shepherd does not have that kind of money, but Captain Watson felt that if we arranged the deal, then donors would come forward to help us put together the ransom money.
This man emphatically rejected our offer and said that these dolphins are part of ongoing business and that the fishermen need to ensure that this business continues so their children will have jobs.
He added that they would not accept donated money anyway, but only “hard earned cash.”
There is some kind of wiggy attitude here about what it means to donate money or volunteer one’s time.
Apparently, these are absolutely foreign concepts in Japan.
This man refused to tell us his name, but we will be posting video of this encounter and perhaps someone can identify him from the video.

自分達で金は出さないけど、誰かが寄付してくれるからとりあえずイルカを買っとけってか。
ま、Sea Shephed を支援してる人達は結構金を持ってる可能性が高いから、あながち非現実的でもないけど・・・。
つか、どうやって漁師の方々にその資金を渡すのか、という疑問も残ってるのだが。
しかし、Watson 船長はイルカを救出するのにどれくらい払うつもりだったんだろうか？
それはそうと。
明後日14日には、各国にある日本大使館前で、イルカ漁や捕鯨を終わらせるための抗議デモが行われるらしい。

アカン。 前半の「イルカは友人。 囲って見世物にするような友人（関係）なんてない。」てので、ちょっとイラッとした。
こういうの見ると「そんな事を言ったら畜産全般はどうなるんだよ？」としか私は思わない。
彼等は「何でも上等と下等に差別してる」ように思える。
捕鯨賛成派が彼らを（人種）差別主義者と罵る一因だと思うのですが。
彼らにそーゆー意識があるとも思えないんですが、本当の所はどうなんでしょうか？
少なくとも日本人の感覚ではイルカ（や鯨）がダメで牛や豚や鳥はＯＫてな理解できないと思うんですが。
シーシェパードは海洋生物対象なんで、そこは区別してる？
納得いかないなぁ。

キリスト教圏（とりわけ欧州）では、昔から動物に上下をつけていましたからね（苦笑）
特に、社会階層と食事として使うことのできる動物の肉（や魚）のランク付けは結構厳しかったもので・・・。
もっとも、日本の場合、宗教や政治の側で肉食を戒める一方、裏で散々動物の肉を食べていたという事情もあるのですが。
それ以前に、イルカやクジラを食料として扱うという考え方自体キリスト教圏に存在してないような気がします。
なので、イルカやクジラは食料じゃなく牛や豚などは食料、という考えになるのも無理がないんですよね。
とはいえ、Sea Shepherd の場合牛や豚などを食べるのもダメという考えなので、ある意味（日本の人達が持ってる）ステロタイプなキリスト教圏の人達の思想ともズレてるんです。
Sea Shepherd は単にキリスト教原理主義者、と片付ける向きもありますが・・・。
この辺りは、Sea Shepherd の思想（があるかどうかは別の話）を理解する上でハマりやすい落とし穴だと私は考えています。
というか、この辺りについて、誰か研究してくれる人はいないんでしょうか？（無責任）
