3ヶ月前の話になるが、『Seven Jewish Children：A Play for Gaza』という劇が 2月6日にロンドンで上演された。
この劇は、2008年12月～2009年1月にイスラエル軍が Gaza 地区に対して行った（中略）テロ行為後の惨状を伝えているもの。
当然というか、英国ではこの劇に関して「イスラエル批判に偏り過ぎてる」とか「反ユダヤ的じゃね？」などの議論が行われたっぺぇ。

で、ついに、というかなんというか、『Seven Jewish Children』を批判する内容の劇なんてのが上演されるに至った。
その名も『Seven Other Children』・・・。

問題の『Seven Jewish Children～』は、Caryl Churchill 氏が手がけた劇。

なんつーか。
これを読んだ限りだと、劇の表現としては愚直なくらいストレートにイスラエル批判を繰り広げてるってのが俺の感想。
ま、『Seven Jewish Children～』を（形式的な意味での）劇と呼ぶべきかどうかという問題はあるかもしれんが・・・。
ただ、イスラエル批判≠反ユダヤ的という図式を理解しない人達も当然いるわけで。
そうした人達は、ご多分にもれず『Seven Jewish Children』を「反ユダヤ的」なんて批判をしている。
で、『Seven Other Children』という劇を書いた Richard Stirling 氏がそうした人達に含まれるかどうかはともかく、この劇を書いた理由について色々述べていた。

なんじゃそりゃ。
意地の悪いことを書くと、（俺が人のことは言えないけど）Stirling 氏はイスラエルの事情について余り詳しくないようだ。
つまるところ、イスラエルでは多数派を占めるユダヤ系の方々が優遇されてるって状況を・・・（正確にはイスラエルに住んでるユダヤ系の人達の間にも差別はあるのだが）。
つーか、Churchill 氏が手がけた劇タイトルの『～Jewish～』ってのは、現在イスラエルに住んでいるユダヤ系の人達のことを指してるんじゃね～か？
なんてことを考慮しないで、Stirling 氏が問題の劇を書いたとしたらトンだお笑い種だわな。
要は、イスラエル寄りな方々の溜飲を下げるために Stirling 氏が使われたってオチだが・・・。
それはそうと。
『Seven Other Children』の内容は、基本的には『Seven Jewish Children』のスタイルを流用したものらしい。

違う点といえば、言葉の使い方くらいなもの。

そういえば、Stirling 氏が使った手法と同じ事をやったしょうもない映画（の予告編）を俺は観たことがあるような・・・。
あ、思い出した。
なんつーか。
劇にしろ、映画にしろ、ある作品の批判をする作品を作るなら良く考えてからやれって話。
ま、良く考えずにそうした作品を作って表現者としてケガをしても責任を負いかねるが・・・。

確か、この映画って見事にコケたような・・・。
