Even today ,tragic wars are happening in many countries around the world.
Michiyo Takao , head nurse at Okinawa Red Cross Hospital ,wants to help people who have been wounded in war .
For over 20 years , she has been part of medical teams dispatched by the International Committee of the Red Cross and traveled to many countries to provide medical services.
For half of last year , she was in Africa’s South Sudan where there is an ongoing civil war.
There , she assisted with surgeries performed on many people who had been injured.
We asked her about what such places are like and the importance of peace.
