身近な野草　風味いろいろ
　Violet wood-sorrels, green leopard plants and other
wild herbs are found growing in a variety of places.
These are familiar plants,but have you ever tried eating them?
At the "Spring Tour: Edible Wild Herbs and Tasting Festival"
which was held at Nago Castle Park on February 5th,
over 20 participants walked around the park looking at
edible plants, and sampled food prepared with wild herbs.
The instructor said,"I hope people learn the characteristics
of wild grasses and flowers, and enjoy their unique taste
and texture,"

タクシー短距離どうぞ
　Most taxis in Tokyo have lowered the starting fare to 410 yen
from 730 yen to attract elderly people and foreign tourists
traveling short distances.
The new fare is hoped to help turn the tide of the declining
number of taxi users, which has fallen about 30 percent in
Tokyo in the past 10 years.

Japanese high-tech toilets will become easier to use
as manufacturers have created common pictograms for
their control panels.
Foreign tourists often find it difficult to understand the
toilet's functions partly because manufacturers use
different symbols for various buttons on the current panels.

Do you know about Oura Bay along the eastern coast of Nago city?
The bay maintains a considerable depth right up to the
innermost areas along the coast.
The sea bottom is a unique enviroment consisting of coral
reefs,mud, sand and other geological features.
Researchers have been amazed by the large variety of creatures
found here to an extent unprecedented anywhere else in Japan.
What sort of world unfolds in the sea right in front of
Henoko where construction of a new U.S. military base has begun?

　When you stay at hotel while traveling, don't you look
forward to sleeping in a nice comfortable bed with
cleen sheets and enjoying the view from the room window?
But, when you try to travel around the world on a budget,
you're not always able to stay in the sort of hotel that
you wish you could.
Travel writer Yuji Shimokawa said sometimes he has had to
stay in hotel rooms that did not have any windows.
There are also people who say that it is better to have
a room wihtout any windows.
