雑誌Journal of Steroid Biochemistry & Molecular Biology（以下ステロイド雑誌）の2011年8月号に2編の論文の撤回アナウンスがなされました。
2編とも東大分子細胞生物学研究所の同一研究グループからの発表です。撤回の理由は2編ともほぼ同じです。

かなりきびしい言葉 plagiarized が使われていますね。
撤回された2007年発表論文（以下、クロマチン論文）とEMBO J に発表された論文がペア、撤回された2004年発表論文（以下、ビタミンD論文）とCell に発表された論文がペアとなります。
実際に両ペアを読んでみると特に図の重複が多くみられます。しかし、撤回された2本とも、総説論文のような形式で書かれており、著者らは2重投稿にはあたらないと判断したのでしょうか。
さらに2本の撤回論文の掲載されていた号は、国際学会で発表された内容をプロシーディングとしてまとめたものを取り扱った号であり、大丈夫と判断したのでしょうか。
プロシーディングの定義、解釈については様々であり、別の機会に取り上げたいと思います。
では実際に撤回された論文掲載号のステロイド雑誌の中身を見て見ましょう。
まずは、ビタミンD論文が掲載された2004年5月号について紹介します。東大分子細胞生物学研究所【2】に続きます。
