I can never win with cropping, I can't scan things anymore, but I can never crop so it's the same on each side...so yes, there are other pictures in the background :)
Originally I was just going to post a recent self-portrait, but then I found a bunch of old Polaroids; and it just proves how much they stand the test of time :) so, this is me, hanging on the bannisters. Circa 1993 maybe? Taken by my dad...I think...or my granddad...
I didn’t realise it until recently, but one of the first pictures I ever took was on my granddad’s Polaroid camera. And it's a pretty cool camera to start off with. Especially as a kid. I love digital, but there's something so original and unique in Polaroids. There's one copy and that's all, no negatives, no jpg's, just that one square in your hand. Not to mention that as a teen, I see it as vintage gold....
Sure, in time the paper might bubble or leave golden streaks across the surface, but it's still just as unique as it was the first time you took it. With cameras that can be a little temperamental and expensive film that's now being stopped (watch those prices riiiise, people!) Polaroid isn't the easiest form of photography in the world, but it is definitely one of the most rewarding. Which makes the discontinuation of the film all the more sad, I guess :(
