「復刊決定！：非可換幾何学入門：A.コンヌ」という記事を書いたばかりだが、他の先生と共著ではあるものの、コンヌ博士の非可換幾何学関連の英語版書籍が２種類発売されることになった。現在、予約受付中である。
博士はフランスを代表する天才数学者で、かつてブルバキのメンバーでもあった。博士の提唱する非可換幾何学は私たちが存在する時空間は実は不連続で、小さなつなぎ目が存在していると予言している全く新しい幾何学の分野だ。最先端物理学である超ひも理論（万物の理論）と密接に結びついていると考えられている。詳細は「素数の魔力に囚われた人々 ～リーマン予想・天才たちの１５０年の闘い～」をお読みいただきたい。
不連続なミクロの時空間については、驚くことに大数学者リーマンも１８５４年にゲッティンゲン大学で行った講演で次の２つのことを言及していた。（参照「微分幾何学：保江邦夫」）
１）リーマン幾何学と全く異なる有り様が測り知れぬほど小さい空間に成り立っているかもしれない。そのような無限小の空間で成り立つ物理量の関係がこれまでの経験則に一致していないとしたら、それを説明する新しい幾何学の仮定に従うべきである。（量子力学、非可換幾何学についての予言。）
２）空間の基礎をなす実在的なものが離散多様体を造るか、または物理量の量的関係の基礎を空間以外に、物体間に働く結合力に求めなければならない。（場の量子論、素粒子物理学についての予言。）
非可換幾何学本について、まず７月に発売になるのがこちら。
