The following is featured in special issue, the end of Heisei, Japan regeneration in the monthly magazine Voice this month issue released the day before yesterday.

It is from the paper of Takashi Hayasaka (non-fiction writer) which was published entitled ‘What is obstructing the 'pro-Japan' in China, the voice of the truth heard while walking through the ground in the ‘history dispute’?

Just as the monthly magazine Voice (780 yen) is a must read, this paper is a must read for Japanese citizens and people all over the world.

I am emphasizing the sentence except the headline.

Preamble.

Voice of former soldiers who participated in Nanjing war

After finishing the interview in Shanghai, I headed straight to Nanking.

Transportation to Nanjing used ‘CRH (China Railroad High Speed)’ also called ‘China version Shinkansen’.

The Chinese government declares that it is ‘independent development’, but in fact it is based on technology transfer from Japan and Germany, licensed by the Chinese side.

Both appearance and interior are very similar to the Japanese Shinkansen.

It is supposed to be a railway condensed by the world's highest technology, but at the time of my visit, there was no automatic ticket gate at Shanghai Railway Station, it was a style of giving a station ticket a paper ticket and making it ‘cut’.

When I was a primary school student, there was still such a scenery in Japan, but indeed Shanghai station had ‘newness’ and ‘oldness’ mixed.

When I get on such a CRH, I arrive in Nanjing in a couple of hours.

When asking Nanjing, there are a lot of Japanese people who only have images of ‘massacre controversy’.

Prior to coming to Nanjing, I was interviewing former Japanese soldiers who experienced Nanjing warfare.

Midsection of China Dispatch Army field fight Telegraph Shimada Chikao who was a soldier of 1st Squadron entered the castle in Nanjing (urban area) in the morning of December 13, 1937.

"There was no person in the castle, it was quiet, and it looked very creepy, I feel like 'being empty or hollow'. Eventually, the headquarters of the 6th Division was established in the building which was a bank, but I decided to carry out communication work there."

Shimada continues his reminiscence.

"About a week after entering the city, I also was nervous, I guess I was excited, I remember being unable to sleep well at night, but all the citizens of Nanjing have already escaped to safe areas. I have never seen a mountain of corpses to be said later in the castle."

Shimada speaks frankly, ‘I witnessed many dead bodies’ during the march from Shanghai to Nanjing.

Shimada like that, but he will head down on the ‘300,000 massacre’ in Nanjing.

"It was true that there was a belligerence at the time of entry and it is true that there were a lot of victims. I admit it, but I really cannot believe it as a genocide of 200,000 people."

Of course, not all the Nanjing warfare can be said in this one testimony.

However, as a testimony of one soldier who experienced the actual Nanjing warfare, it cannot be neglected.

I want to take it calmly.

I also heard a story from Kita Tomeharu who participated as Corporate infantry of Infantry 7th Regiment No. 1 Battalion 2nd Squadron in Nanjing warfare.

"I entered a safe area from the 14th and looked for ordinary clothes soldiers that are misunderstood by the citizens. If we do this mopping-up operation, I remember that the notice was strictly instructed from the regiment commander. The military discipline was very strict, especially what was emphasized was consideration for the public, attention to arson, misfire "

Regarding the atmosphere of the safe area, it says:

"There were so many Chinese people gathered, it is a feeling that they were crowded with people, many Nanjing citizens had flowed into this safe area, I was not in the atmosphere of the scene of a battlefield. I patrolled with a Chinese police officer, but I have never seen the scene of a dead body being rolling in. I remember seeing various stalls in the safe area''

Kita says, 'Of course, I think that it is true that many casualties came out in the battle. But I do not feel like listening to all what China has to say on the Chinese side '

This draft continues.
