Word Building
　単語の構成
Your child is introduced to a variety of words in this section.
　この章では、様々な単語をお子さんに紹介します
Many of the words may already be familiar, and some may be new.
　そのうちの多くは既に知ってるものかもしれませんし、いくつかは新しいものかもしれません。
These words will help your child to begin building vocabulary skills.
　これらの単語は、お子さんが語彙力を育て始める手助けになるでしょう。
Building a strong vocabulary is an important step in becoming a strong reader.
　語彙力の強化は、文を上手に読めるようになる大事な一歩です。
You will find many words from this section on the flash cards at the back of the book.
　巻末のフラッシュカードの中に、この章からの多くの単語をみつけるでしょう。

What to Do
　何をするのか
Have your child complete the activities on each page.
　お子さんに各ページのアクティビティを完成させましょう。
On many of the pages there are pictures of the words.
　多くのページにその単語の絵があります。
Point them out to your child.
　お子さんにその絵を指し示してください
Review his or her work.
　作業を復習しましょう。
Let your child know that he or she is doing a good job!
　とてもよく出来ていることをお子さんに教えてあげましょう

・Encourage your child to use the new words he or she is learning.
　お子さんが学んでいる新しい単語を使うようにやる気にさせましょう
Ask your child to help you write grocery lists, thank-you notes, and to-do lists.
　買い物リストやお礼状、用事リストを書く手伝いを頼みましょう
・Make a list of high-frequency words - such as the, and, was, said, and so on.
　"the, and, was, said"などの 頻出語のリストをつくりましょう　
Pick a word of the day and have your child point out that word every time he or she sees it that day.
　その日の単語を挙げて、その日お子さんが目にしたその単語を毎回指差してもらいましょう
