今回は、日本政府による南極海「調査捕鯨」に関する報道をネタにする。
まずは、オーストラリア政府の今後の対応に関して予想した Andrew Darby 氏の論稿。

この中で Darby 氏は、オーストラリア政府が日本政府を国際司法裁判所（ICJ）に対し訴えた件について今後の展開を予想してた。
曰く、オーストラリア政府が勝訴すれば日本政府の宣伝活動の失敗を意味するが、逆なら商業捕鯨再開を狙う国にとって有利になる、と・・・。
一方で、オーストラリア政府の南極海「調査捕鯨」に対する姿勢について意味深なことを述べていた。

Recently a senior Japanese diplomat in Canberra also told AAP that he wouldn't mind seeing an Australian ship down there to help keep control.
If elected, the Coalition would find itself rapidly coming up against the next whaling season and the prospect of fulfilling this commitment.
One of the main arguments the government has used is that it would not want to escalate tensions by sending a patrol vessel south.
But this summer's lesson is that that horse has bolted.

この中で、森川教授は日本政府が南極海「調査捕鯨」に関する方針を改める可能性は極めて低いと述べた上で、僅かばかりの可能性について言及していた。

そもそも、南極海「調査捕鯨」を続行するのは、日本政府のプライドを保つという側面もあるからな～。
