・・・相変わらず現実生活はドタバタ続き（謎）。
今年5月のことになるが、世界動物園水族館協会（World Association of Zoos and Aquariums：WAZA）が日本動物園水族館協会（Japan Association of Zoos and Aquariums：JAZA）の会員資格を停止＋除名通告を行った。
理由は、「一部の水族館が和歌山県太地町で行われてる追い込み漁で捕獲されたイルカを入手＋改善姿勢が見られない」というもの。
この決定を受け、JAZAに加盟してる動物園と水族館はイルカの捕獲方法を改善（追い込み漁での捕獲禁止）する方針を固めた。
そして、昨日、WAZAはJAZAの会員資格停止を解除したのだが・・・。

These are summarised as:
・The Chair of JAZA formally advised all its members on 12 June 2015 of the decision to ban the acquisition of cetaceans captured in drive hunts, effective immediately.
JAZA resolved to undertake all necessary actions if a member were found to violate this decision, including expulsion.
Necessary changes to the bylaws are being made.
・The JAZA decision does not stop at the Taiji hunts; the ban is comprehensive across all similar fisheries.
・To achieve ongoing monitoring, JAZA will establish a registry for all individuals of all species held at its member institutions, including photographs for individual identification.
Currently JAZA has the studbooks for bottlenose dolphin, Pacific white-sided dolphin, and finless porpoise.
・Every member of JAZA that enters the Association will provide a written oath to comply with the Association's rules and directions.
The corollary of these decisions has also produced an initiative to improve the husbandry and breeding expertise in JAZA member facilities, with a new task force committee to build member capacity to address improved husbandry and breeding practices for all dolphins and other cetaceans.
"We will continue to monitor progress and ensure that JAZA further develops its policies. We are confident that JAZA aspires to reform its previous practices and WAZA will enhance cooperative efforts to support JAZA's decision", says Lee Ehmke, WAZA President.

一部水族館側としては、JAZAの影響力低下につながる団体脱退という手段を温存することで、JAZAに加盟している他の団体 -- 特に動物園 -- への圧力をかけるほうが得策と踏んだのかもしれん。
JAZAでは水族館が少数派とはいえ、JAZAの影響力低下による被害が比較的大きい動物園側としては、水族館側の意向を迂闊に無視できないと思われるし・・・。
繰り返しになるけど、一連の騒動は、日本の水族館や動物園の存在意義自体を問う形となった。
ってのを踏まえると、今必要なのは、日本の水族館や動物園の進むべき道は何かを検討することじゃ？
