There are two main methods of peanut oil: pressing method and leaching method. Squeezing and leaching are two different peanut oil production processes. In the voices related to peanut oil safety, it is often heard that the leaching method is harmful to health. In fact, this statement is wrong. No matter which method is produced, peanut oil , Are safe, let’s take a look at these two unused oil-making processes.

What is the main process of peanut oil processing?

The production of peanut oil is roughly divided into three stages: raw material pretreatment, oil extraction, and crude oil (also called crude oil) refining. Squeezing and leaching refer to two different methods of extracting fat from raw materials. The peanut oil on the market comes from these two processes. After a series of processing of raw materials, the oil inside becomes peanut oil and enters the grain and oil market, while the solid residue becomes oil dregs and enters the two fields of plant fertilizer and livestock feed.

What is the specific method of physically squeezing peanut oil?

Pressing is a mechanical method to make oil, which is divided into cold pressing and hot pressing. The conventional step is to let the raw materials go through the preliminary process of impurity removal, crushing, frying (for hot pressing), and then use mechanical pressure to squeeze out the oil in the oil-making raw materials such as peanuts, soybeans, melon seeds, and separate and filter the oil. Afterwards, the crude oil obtained cannot be eaten yet, and a series of refining processes such as decolorization and deacidification must be carried out before it can be put on the shelves. This method originated from traditional oil-making workshops and has a history of thousands of years. This is how the modern industrial civilization used to obtain oils and fats before.

What is the principle of peanut oil leaching method?

The principle of the leaching method is extraction, that is, the use of organic solvents with different solubility properties for the raw materials to separate the relevant components in the raw materials. The specific method is to immerse the oil-making raw materials after pretreatment processes such as screening and crushing in an organic solvent, and the grease in the raw materials will be transferred to the solvent due to dissolution. After the fat is fully dissolved, the solvent must be removed by distillation, and the remaining fat will become the finished peanut oil after refining, just like the pressing method. Of course, the solvents that are evaporated are not sacrificed, but are collected by the corresponding equipment and then cooled back into a liquid state for recycling.
