※Wallflower･･･和名ニオイアラセイトウ（学名 Cheiranthus cheiri）
アブラナ科の二年草。南ヨーロッパ原産。全体に灰色の毛におおわれ、高さ 30～70cm。葉は披針形で先が尖る。春から初夏の頃、茎の上部に香りのよい3cm径ほどの十字花が総状に集まって咲く。原種は橙色であるが、園芸品種が多く、黄、クリームなどの花色があり、また八重咲きのものもある。通常秋まきとするが、寒さにやや弱い。
花言葉は「愛の絆、逆境にも変わらない愛、逆境にも変わらぬ誠」など。
