Waste Money

It was so hot yesterday that I felt like having ice cream very often.

Today it was not as hot as yesterday and I didn't want it . But I wanted beer and something to nibble. When I dropped in at a convenience store to pay the automobile tax, I bought a can of tidbits. It was blue mussels steamed with wine. Blue mussels are my favorite food but it is hard to find them at a supermarket in this area. I was excited just to imagine how tasty they would be.
Contrary to my expectation, they were not so good.

I know that canned food is generally not so tasty as ordinary food. I wasted money.
How stupid I was!

Favorite Season

Yesterday it was hot, but today it was not as hot as yesterday.

Summer is the season I hate because of the heat, so I try to think about autumn and winter rather than summer. I like autumn the best. Spring is not bad, but summer follows spring. So I sometimes feel restless in spring. But the one good thing about summer is fireworks.

People often go to festivals to see fireworks and celebrate special occasions. I like to see fireworks, set off fireworks and go to festivals. I get energized when I see fireworks or go to festivals.

I wish fireworks and festivals were held every day in town in summer.

After Work Shop

Yesterday I took a train to attend a workshop. Usually I don't take a train but drive a car wherever I go. But, the workshop venue was near a JR station, so I thought it was more convenient to go by train.

Actually it was and, also I felt very comfortable on the train. After the workshop I had lunch with some of my acquaintances at a restaurant in the station.
After lunch I took a train to return to the office. But the train was delayed by 15 minutes and I was almost late for a class.

I didn't have time to have dinner, nor did I want to. I was exhausted.

岐阜にて

今日の午前中は岐阜センターで行われた研修に参加しました。
岐阜地区の研修に参加するのは１年ぶり、そこで出会った先生方にお会いするのも１年ぶりです。
ECCホームティーチャー歴20年を越える元気な先生方に勇気づけられ、研修後、一緒にランチして解散しました。
いまは、JRに乗ってます。

Beautiful Day

I went grocery shopping by car this morning.
On the way home, I saw a car caught by a motorcycle policeman on the opposite lane. I felt relief because I usually drive on the road at higher speed than the speed limit, but this time there was a car in front of me going slowly. The car kept the speed limit and I had to do so.
Thanks to the car, I was a good driver.

Now I am having lunch and drinking some beer which I bought this morning. Today is a beautiful day. I see a clear sky, feel refreshing air and am listening to good music. What a comfortable lunch time! I don't feel like getting back to work.

Weed the Garden

A month ago, I scattered herbicide on the ground. So I don't need to weed the garden anymore.
I felt relief until I noticed something happened to the plants in the garden.

I found some leaves of a plant had turned brown and another plant in a flower pot was turning to brown. Although I never scattered herbicide in the garden, the ground I scattered it on is by the garden and the flower pot is on the ground.
I think the herbicide must have affected the plants but there is nothing to do.

These plants were raised by my husband. If he observes what's happening to his plants, how sad he will be.

新年度が始まったばかりの一学期は、授業中に写真を撮る余裕がないんですよね

ディクテーションというＣＤ音源を聴きながらその内容を書きとめる練習です。
この作業は、通訳学校で行われている代表的なトレーニングのひとつです。

正確に書き留めるには、繰り返し音源を聴く必要があります。
また、ナチュラルスピードで読まれる音源は、聞こえたままを文字に表しても意味をなさないことがあります。
しかし、単語力と文法力を身につけている人は正しく書けます。

たとえば
who's と　whose
どちらも同じ発音で　フーズ　と読まれます。

さて、
　　①フーズ　ディス？　　　　と聞こえたときと
　　②フーズ　イズ　ディス？　と聞こえたときは、どちらにwho'sを使いますか

また
where　と　wear　（ウェア）

How I look

Recently, I am into disposable contact lenses. I have been wearing hard contact lenses for 3 decades,but sometimes I want to wear something new.

A few months ago, I went to the eye doctor with my daughter to buy some contact lenses for her. While I was waiting, I was reading a catalog. I found something interesting in it. They are color contact lenses. I became eager to try them. So I ordered some of them and I wear them almost every day.

Sometimes people thought I was half American and half Japanese before I wore color contact lenses, but now I am often mistaken for an Amerasian.

My son

The Golden Week had nice weather, except on May 4.

That day, I visited my hometown with my son by car. It was a 2 hours' ride. Usually it takes one and a half hours from my place to get there. Because of a traffic jam, it took longer than usual.
It didn't make me uncomfortable. I enjoyed being with my son in my car. He is a dormitory student, so we don't live together.
Spending time with him is the happiest time for me.

He has already returned to the dormitory and I miss him.
My husband wants him to come back home every month, but he won't come back home till July if there is no necessity.

Today was a hot day

Recently, I write in my diary around midnight. It is hard for me to write something new around midnight because I usually get up at 5 am.

Today, I am trying to write now. It is before 8 pm. I have had dinner and I am full. I don't remember what I usually do after dinner on Saturday. I remember that I was busy last weekend.

However, tonight I don't have anything to do, so I can sit at my desk and write. My favorite dramas have started. I watch them after dinner so I sometimes lose track of time. I don't have any favorite dramas tonight. I have four hours before going to bed. I am thinking about what to write. Today was a hot day. The highest temperature was 30C. I had a poor appetite in the daytime but now it is much cooler and my appetite is increasing.

To divert myself, I took a bath. Now I am listening to music and drinking beer. I need something to eat with beer. I am crunching on pretzels. Snyder's is my favorite. When I first ate Snyder's, I stayed at a hotel in Tokyo. I have been a big fan of Snyder's, especially cheddar cheese flavor, since then. Beer, Snyder's and music makes me comfortable.
I think I should go to bed early tonight. Good night.
