会社によりますと、工場は４階建ての建物で、揮発性の原料などを使ってインクのもととなる樹脂を製造していますが、爆発が起きたと見られる１階と２階では、固形の原料を機械で細かく砕く作業が行われていたということです。
１日の記者会見で会社側は、一定の濃度の粉じんが空気中に浮遊して何らかの火花などが引火する「粉じん爆発」が起きた可能性もあるとする一方、通常の作業で爆発が起きるとは考えにくいと説明しています。警察は作業の手順などについて会社側から話を聞くとともに、１階と２階を中心に詳しい状況を調べています。
