スティーヴン・モエレリン、芸術博士
アメリカ・ネブラスカ州、ネブラスカ大学音楽学部ピアノ演奏科卒業。同大学院修了、
芸術博士（DMA）の学位を得る。ピアノ 演奏をマーク・クリントン氏に、作曲を
レンドル・スナイダー氏に師事。在学中より演奏活動を開始し、5つの州でピアノ・
リサイタルを行う。学位論文、及び卒業演奏は「セルゲイ・プロコフィエフ作曲
つかの間の幻影 作品２２」（博士課程修了・レクチャーリサイタル）。
この学位論文は、全米の大学図書館で最も多くダウンロードされた学術論文・
トップ25入りを果たした。
卒業後はカリフォルニア州サンフランシスコを拠点に、スタンウェイ・ピアノギャラリーを始め
多数のリサイタルに出演。カリフォルニア州ベアバレーで開催されたサマー・ミュージック・
フェスティバルに参加するなど、積極的に演奏活動を行う。またピアノ指導者として
コンコード市にピアノ教室を開講し、ピアノコンクールの審査員を務めるなど後進の指導にあたる。
同時に作曲活動も開始し、作曲依頼を受けた多数の楽曲は7つの州で演奏された。
日本では2006年と2007年にモエレリン由紀子とピアノリサイタルを開催し、また松戸市内の
中学校にピアニストとして招かれレクチャーリサイタルを行うなどの演奏活動を行った。
これまでピアノコンクールで入賞した中、最近ではメリーランド州バルティモアで行われた
「リスト-ガリソン・インターナショナル・ピアノコンクール」(Liszt- Garrison International
Piano Competition)、カリフォル ニア州ロサンゼルスで行われた「ロサンゼルス・
インターナショナル・リスト・コンクール」(Los Angeles International Liszt Competition)
がある。オハイオ州シンシナティで行われた「ワールド・ピアノコンクール」(World Piano
Competition)では、受賞者としてカーネギーホールで演奏する名誉が与えられた。
2015年8月に来日し、現在は松戸市新松戸にてモエレリン・ピアノ教室を開講中。
Steven Moellering received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from
the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied piano under Dr. Mark Clinton and
composition under Dr. Randall Snyder. During the doctoral studies he has performed
piano recitals in 5 US states. His doctoral research, Visions Fugitives Opus 22: Insights
into Sergei Prokofiev’s Compositional Vision, has received the University Libraries
Influence Award as one of the top 25 most downloaded publications.
After Graduation, while residing in San Francisco, he has performed numerous recitals
including Steinway Gallery in San Francisco, served as an adjudicator for competitions,
participated in Summer Music Festivals such as Bear Valley California, maintained a private
home piano studio in Concord and composed. As a composer, he received several
commissions and his work has been performed in 7 U.S. states.
In Japan, he performed in recitals with Yukiko Moellering in 2006 and 2007, and was
invited to give lecture-recitals for students in Matsudo.
He has garnered prizes from competitions and most recently participated in the Liszt- Garrison
International Piano Competition in Baltimore, Maryland and the Los Angeles International Liszt
Competition. As a prizewinner at the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio, he received
the honor to perform at Carnegie Hall.
He currently resides in Japan and is the owner of Moellering Piano Studio in Shim-Matsudo.
