Sherlock mini episode: Many Happy Returns by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat
Transcribed by me, to aid my Japanese friends enjoy this wonderful Christmas present. All mistakes are mine. Couple of words I couldn't catch. Will take this down if BBC/Hartswood Films is disturbed by this breach of copyright.
「シャーロック」S3放送開始を一週間後に控えたクリスマス・イブの午後にBBCOneで放送されたミニエピソード「Many Happy Returns」、聴き取りと翻訳をしてみました。日本のファンが楽しむ一助になればという、それだけが目的ですが、BBCとHartswood Filmsの著作権を侵害していますので、著作権者に指摘されたら、特に英語部分を落とします。転載などはご遠慮ください。

A monastry.
Monks in red, their faces are covered. One monk (with white male hands) pulls back the hood of another to reveal a blonde woman underneath.
BLONDE WOMAN: You bastard!

Inside a London pub. Lestrade and Anderson (with a beard) sitting in a corner.
LESTRADE: A breakaway sect of Buddhist warrior monks infiltrated by a blonde drug smuggler? That never really happened.
ANDERSON: A blonde drug smuggler who was exposed by an abbot with unusual powers of observation and deduction.
LESTRADE: A blonde woman hiding amongst bald monks, that won't exactly take Sherlock Holmes.
ANDERSON: But, perhaps it did.
LESTRADE: He's dead. I'm sorry, I wish he wasn't, but he really is dead and gone.
ANDERSON: Well, how do you explain this? (takes out map) Sighting number two. Incident at New Delhi.
LESTRADE: You haven't been titling these.
レ： 分派した僧兵集団に潜入した、ブロンドの麻薬密売人だって？ 実際にはそんなのなかったから。
ア： ブロンドの麻薬密売人が、ずば抜けた観察と推理の力をもつ僧侶に暴かれたんですよ。
レ： 丸坊主の坊主の集団に金髪女が隠れてたら、別にシャーロック・ホームズじゃなくても見抜くよ。
ア： でももしかしたら、彼が見抜いたのかもしれない。
レ： 死んでるから。悪いけど。死んでなけりゃいいのにって思うけど。でも本当に死んだんだよ。もういないんだ。
ア： じゃあ、これはどう説明します？ 目撃その２。ニューデリーの出来事。
レ： まさか全部にタイトルをつけてるんじゃないよな。
Indian police station press conference.
INDIAN DETECTIVE: …after that it was simply a matter of tracking down the killer, which I did by working out the depth to which the chocolate flake had sunk into the victim's icecream cone.
インドの刑事： ……そこまでくればあとはもう、殺人犯を追跡すれば済むことでした。そのために私は、被害者のアイスクリームコーンにチョコレートのかけらがどれだけ沈み込んだのか、その深さを把握したのです。
A corridor.
INDIAN DETECTIVE: (comes out the door, looks up and notices) My friend. Will you not take any of the credit? This was all down to you.
インドの刑事：（廊下に出て） ああ、君か。自分の手柄にしなくていいのか？ 全ては君のおかげなのに。
(A silhouette of a familiar figure stands in the corridor.)
London pub again.
LESTRADE: Clever man, Inspector Brikesh.
ANDERSON: Awph! What police inspector could have made that deduction?
LESTRADE: Well, thank you.
ANDERSON: You remember how Sherlock never took the credit when he solved all of your cases?
LESTRADE: He didn't solve all of my cases!
ANDERSON: He's out there. He's hiding. And he can't stop himself from getting involved. (laughs) It's so obviously him! If you know how to spot the signs.
LESTRADE: The Klein brothers, the Tower House thing, the Kensington ripper. Solved all of those myself.
ANDERSON: You got Tower House wrong.
LESTRADE: No, I didn't!
ANDERSON: Yah, you did. OK. Sighting number 3. (points at map. Hamburg) The mysterious juror.
(Lestrade bangs his head on the table)
レ： ブリケシュ警部は頭のいい人だ。
ア： いやいやいや。あんな推理ができる警部がいるはずないでしょ。
レ： やあ、どうもありがとうよ。
ア： シャーロックがあなたの事件を全部解決してくれてたとき、絶対に自分の手柄にしなかったのを覚えてます？
レ： 全部解決してもらってなんかないよ！
ア： その辺にいるんですよ。隠れてるんだ。そして、関わらずにはいられないんだ。（笑う）もうシャーロックそのものだ。どこを見たらいいか分かってれば、明らかだ。
レ： クライン兄弟の事件、タワーハウスのやつ、ケンジントンのリッパー。全部、自分ひとりで解決したんだぞ。
ア： タワーハウスのは間違ってましたよ。
レ： 間違ってないよ！
ア： いや、間違ってた。いいですか。目撃その３。（地図上のハンブルクを指す） 謎の陪審員。
(please read the English subtitles for the following German jury scene, Trepoff wife murder case)
（謎の陪審員のドイツ語や英語字幕は訳しませんが、要するにトレポフという人が妻を殺したのかという裁判で、ほかの陪審員はみんな「無罪」と評決しているのに、ひとりテーブルを指で叩いてる人がいて、その後ろ姿に見覚えがあるよねという。続いて映る新聞の見出しは「トレポフ有罪、衝撃！」と）
Pub again.
ANDERSON: It had to be him! There's no one else it can be! Do you not see?
LESTRADE: I see that you lost a good job fantasizing about a dead man coming back to life, and I know why you want that to happen. But he's never gonna. OK, I'm going to go and see an old friend. You take care, OK? I'll have a word and see if they won't review your case.
ANDERSON: Just look at the map, though. He's getting closer. It's like he's coming back.
ア： 彼に決まってる！ ほかにありえない！ わかりませんか？
レ： 死んだ男が生き返ってくると妄想したせいで、君がいい仕事を失ったってのは分かる。生き返ってほしいと、なんで君が思うのかも分かる。でも絶対戻ってこないんだよ。じゃあ、古い友達に会いにいくから。君も自分を大事にしろよ、いいな？ 君の処分を見直さないかどうか、声かけてみるから。
ア： でも地図を見てくださいよ！ どんどん近づいてる。まるで戻ってくるみたいだ。
John's flat. Small but bright and cheery.
JOHN: It's good to see you, Greg.
LESTRADE: And you.
JOHN: Have a seat.
LESTRADE: So, how've you been?
JOHN: Yeah, good, yeah. Much better. So what's in the, um… (points to box).
LESTRADE: Oh that, yeah, well that's um, that's some stuff from my office, some stuff of Sherlock's, actually. I probably should have thrown it out, but I didn't know if....
JOHN: No, fine, yeah.
LESTRADE: There's something here, um, wasn't sure whether I should have kept it in. (opens box, takes out optical disk) You remember the video message he made for your birthday? I had to practically threaten him. This is the uncut version. It's quite funny.
JOHN: Oh, right. (takes disk)
LESTRADE: Maybe I shouldn't have brought it.
JOHN: Don't mind, it's OK. Probably won't even watch it. (chuckles and smiles his sad smile)
ジョン： 会えて嬉しいよ、グレッグ。
レ： こちらこそ。
ジョン： 座って。
レ： えっと、最近はどう？
ジョン： いいよ。うん、ずっと良くなった。えーと、あれには何が。
レ： ああ、あれは、うん。オフィスにあったのを色々と、シャーロックのものなんだけど、実は。捨てた方が良かったんだろうけど、でももしかしてと思って……。
ジョン： そうか、うん、大丈夫だよ。
レ： ここにひとつね、あの、入れといたのが、入れない方がいいのか分かんなかったんだけど（箱からディスク取り出す） 君の誕生日にあいつが撮ったビデオメッセージ覚えてる？ ほとんど脅迫みたいにして撮らせたんだけど。これが、ノーカット版だ。すごい笑える。
ジョン： あ、そうなんだ（ディスクを受け取る）
レ： 持ってこない方が良かったかな。
ジョン： 気にしないで、大丈夫だから。たぶん見やしないと思うし（笑い、寂しく微笑む）
Cut to John alone in his flat. Pours himself a drink. After a beat, puts the disk on. The screen shows the wall of 221b, Sherlock's voice heard off-camera.
SHERLOCK: (sotto voce) Was that supposed to? (inaudible) OK, yeah.
(loud voice) Ohhh, uhh, hmmm. (appears before camera) So what do I, what do I, what do you want me to do at the end? Shall I smile and wink, I do that some times, I've no idea why. People seem to like it. Humanizes me.
LESTRADE (voice off camera): Fine, whatever.
Sherlock (turning back to the camera): Why am I doing this again?
LESTRADE (voice off camera): You're gonna miss the dinner.
SHERLOCK: Of course I'm going to miss dinner! There'll be people! How could John be getting a birthday dinner? All his friends hate him. You only have to look at their faces.
(John watching, smiling wryly)
SHERLOCK: I wrote an essay on suppressed hatred in close proximity based entirely on his friends. In reflection, it probably wasn't a very good choice of gift. What was my excuse again?
LESTRADE: You said you had a thing.
SHERLOCK: Oh, right, yes! That's right, a thing.
LESTRADE: You might want to elaborate.
SHERLOCK: No, no, no. Only lies have detail.
(John grim-faced, shakes head)
SHERLOCK: Right. I just… I need a moment to, um, figure out what I'm going to do.
JOHN: I can tell you what you can do. You can stop being dead.
SHERLOCK: OK!
(John looks up surprised at the perfect timing of that "OK")
SHERLOCK (sitting in his chair): OK, I'm ready now. (looks up into camera) Hello, John. I'm sorry I'm not there at the moment, but I'm very busy. However, many happy returns. Oh, and don't worry. I'm going to be with you again, very soon.
(John's door bell rings. John pauses video with image of Sherlock looking into camera)
シ：（低い声で）そうなるはずだったのか？ （ここ聞き取れない）わかった。
（改めて大きい声で） えーと、うーん、ふむ。（カメラの前に出てくる） ということで、僕は僕は、えーと、最後に何をしたらいいんだって？ にっこり笑ってウィンク。時々やるんだよな、なんでかまったく分からないけど。けっこうみんな喜ぶんだ。人間らしくなるからか。
レ： わかった、なんでもいいから。
シ： もう一度聞くけど、なんでこんなことするんだって？
レ： ディナーに出ないからだろ。
シ： ディナーなんて出ないに決まってるだろ！ 人がたくさん集まるんだから！ ジョンの誕生日ディナーだなんて、いったい何事だ？ 友人全員に嫌われてるのに。顔を見れば一目瞭然だ。
彼の友達連中をもとにしただけで、至近距離における憎悪の抑圧についてレポートを書いたんだぞ。まあ、思い直してみれば、あまりいいプレゼントじゃなかったかもしれないけど。それで、僕のいいわけはなんだったっけ？
レ： ちょっと用事があるんだろ。
シ： ああそう、そうだ！ そのとおり、ちょっと用事が。
レ： もう少し詳しく説明したらどうだ。
シ： いやいやいや。細部が揃ってるのは嘘でしかない。
よし。ちょっと……何をするか考えるから、ちょっと待って。
ジョン： 僕が言ってやるよ。何をしたらいいか。死んでるのを止めろよ。
シ： OK！
（タイミングにジョン驚く）
シ： よし、準備できた。（カメラ目線で） やあ、ジョン。今そこにいられなくて申し訳ない。でもとても忙しいんだ。とはいえ、今日の幸せが何度も繰り返されますように。それから、心配しないで。また君のそばにいるようになるから。もう間もなく。
Pub again.
ANDERSON (to himself, looking at map): He's coming back. (laughs)
ア： 戻ってくるんだ。（低く笑う）
Lestrade out on the street. Sees man with a tabloid with a lead title saying, "The Game is Back On!". Lestrade pauses, then shakes his thought away and enters news agent.
（外に出たレストラード、通行人が読む新聞見出しに目を留める。「The Game is Back On!」（試合再開だ！）
Cut to the John's TV screen. Paused image moves and shows Sherlock smiling and winking.
