第十三弾: Holy Fuck ライブ ＠ ニューヨーク大学キンメルセンター
Never thought I would see these guys live. And on campus. They produce beat tracks utilizing cool tools.
まさかコイツらのライブを観にいくことになるとは…しかも大学のキャンパスで。Holy Fuckは様々な機械を駆使しビートを繰り出す人達。エレクトロニカとは違う。
The dude uses some sort of 8mm film cutting device to make that DJ scratch sound, he went totally wild with that thing. He was beating the hell out of the tool as if he was jamming on a guitar.
8mmフィルム切断機を使ってDJのスクラッチサウンドを出してるの図。この機械を振り回しながら「うぉおおおお！！」と興奮してたのが印象的。ギタープレーヤーも顔負けの勢いだった。
For this gig they called in Beans, some kind of free-style rapper. Holy Fuck with Beans. The girl at the NYU ticket booth seemed to find it funny when I asked for a ticket. There's nothing funny about Holy Fuck's music though.
今まで色んなネーミングのバンドに出会ってきたけど、こういうシンプルなのも粋じゃないかと。直訳すると「聖なるファック」。本当の意味は違うけど。キャンパスチケットサービスの女の子はこの名前にかなりウケてたが。
Because they had Beans as their special guest, they didn't play any of their own songs. So I went up to them after the gig and said, "You guys are Holy Fuck right? I was kinda hoping you'd play some of your own stuff like KORG RHYTHM you know." The dude was surprised I knew any of their songs, and he told me that the gig they were going to perform two days later at Webster Hall will feature their own songs. But I didn't go. I'll check them out some other time.
スペシャルゲストはフリースタイルラッパーのBeans。彼の登場のせいで残念ながらホーリーファックの曲は演奏されなかった。そこでライブ後、メンバーの一人に「あんたらホーリーファックだろ？自分達の曲は演らないの？Korg Rhythmとか聴きたかったのに」とか言ったら自分らの曲を知ってる人がいる事に驚いてた。そして二日後のウェブスターホールでのライブでは自曲を演奏するから観に来てね♡って言われたけど、行かなかった。また次の機会に。
