バグルスの2ndアルバム。前年に参加したイエスが解散し、トレヴァー・ホーンとジェフ・ダウンズは再びバグルスとして、アルバム制作に取りかかる。しかし4曲をレコーディングした後、ダウンズは新バンド・エイジア結成のため離脱してしまう。残されたホーンは、義兄のジョン・シンクレア、サイモン・ダーロウ、ブルース・ウーリーらの協力を得てアルバムを完成させる。ほかにもイエスのクリス・スクワイアや後のアート・オブ・ノイズのアン・ダドリーとゲーリー・ランガン、ティナ・チャールズ・バンド時代からの知人ロッド・トンプソンらが協力している。
「アイ・アム・ア・カメラ」は、イエスでのアルバム「ドラマ」に収録された「レンズの中へ」のバグルス・ヴァージョン。シングルカットおよび12インチ・ミックス版も制作されている。邦題は「モダン・レコーディングの冒険」。ただし日本ではLPは発売されなかった。
アルバムは前作のアイランド・レコードからではなく、フランスのCARRERE社から発売された。同社はワールドワイドのディストリビュートを持たなかったこともあり、セールスはほとんど振るわずに終わる。ホーンはこのアルバムを最後にパフォーマーとしての活動を停止。プロデューサー活動を本格化させることとなる。
