Quick Pizza party with teachers and staff!
授業の合間の短いお昼休みですが、授業のサポートに入ってくださった
先生方や職員の皆様と最後の授業後ピザパーティーを開きました。

Full and happy!  Now it's back to work!
ピザでお腹が一杯ですが、午後も頑張りましょう!

山野美容芸術短期大学 授業 国際美容文化論 ⑤

A special performance by artist KD Brosia!!  The students went wild!!
更にスペシャルゲストとして、KD　ブロージアがパフォーマンスを披露してくれました。
前回の授業にも来ているので、学生は彼の登場に大きな拍手と声援を送っていました。


Then there was the fabulous voice of Robbie Danzie!!
そしてもちろん、素晴らしい美声を持つロビー　ダンジー!!


They had our students up on their feet once again!!
学生達もリズムにのって楽しみました!!


This brings us to the end of my class and I'm hoping that the 
students will enjoy learning as much as they can during their 2 years 
at Yamano, have many  great experiences and make many new friends..
これでこの授業は最後になりますが、山野での2年間で学生達が一つでも
多くのことを学び、ここでしか得られない経験や体験をし、生涯共に助けあい
励ましあうことのできる友情を育てて欲しいと願っています。

The Bridal Quick Change 　今度は山野流花嫁クイックチェンジをショーとして見ます。
作り方を見た学生はこのショーを見る視点も変わったのではないかと思います。

The bride and groom enter with a round of applause from the students. 
(especially when they recognize KD Brosia as our groom for the day!)
花嫁と花婿がスポットライトを浴びて登場すると学生から拍手が湧き起こりました。

She is dressed in the all white brocaded outer robe, 'uchikake'.   
The groom is dressed in the men's formal attire, 'haori' and 'hakama'.
花嫁様は白打掛、花婿様は羽織袴の礼装で登場です。


Our model for the bride, Natsukawa-san has travelled with us all  over the world
doing this show in Los Angeles, Dubai, Las  Vegas, New York,  San Francisco
and Washington DC.
今日モデルを務めて下さったのは最近CMでも活躍している夏川さんです。このショーは
海外からの要請で、ロサンゼルス・ドバイ・ラスベガス・ニューヨーク・サンフランシスコ・
ワシントンDC等でも行っていて、日本の伝統美と様々な美しい衣装へあっという間に展開
していく様子は毎回スタンディングオベーションを頂くほど好評です。


Then she changes into a colored outer robe referred to as an 'iro uchikake'. 
This particular one is one that I designed last year and  is full of hearts!
このハートが沢山描かれた赤の内掛けは昨年私がデザインしたものです。


The next kimono is the 'furisode'.  Today we used one that is 
sequins, but there are other more traditional types.
赤の内掛けから一瞬にして振袖に変わります。


Last, but not least, the wedding dress and veil.
そして最後に美しいウエディングドレス姿に変わります。
この4つの衣装に変わるのショーはステージをモデルさんが歩く時間も
入れて15分くらいしかかけていません!

文化交流には様々な形があると思いますが、これからも日本人であり、節目節目に
日本の伝統文化に触れながら海外で育った背景を持つ自分だからこそできる
日本文化の紹介に力を注ぎ、広めて行きたいと思っています。

Make a new friend!　新しい人と出会いましょう!
Each class we take time to meet someone new.
1学年全員(全学科)が出席するこのクラスではできる限り多くの人と出会えるように
お互いに挨拶をする時間を作るようにしています。
It's also way to ensure that all are still awake and alive!!
授業の途中で立ち上がる事はちょうど良いリフレッシュにもなります!!
　

Our students enjoyed talking with our visitors from Mt. San Antonio College. 
特に今日はマウント・サンアントニオ大学からの文化交流学生が訪れているので
本校の学生もコミュニケーションをとることのできたこの時間を楽しんだようです。

Special Demonstration -During our presentation we showed our audience
what we do BACK STAGE when preparing for the Quick Change Show.
今日は最後の授業として通常はショーの形でしか見られない山野流花嫁
クイックチェンジの楽屋での準備の様子をデモンストレーションしました。


After the make-up is finished the hair is tied up and the wig is 
placed on the model's head.  Then the hair ornaments.
まずはメイクアップをしてから髪をまとめ、鬘をモデルさんにかぶってもらいます。
それからかんざしをさしていきます。


Finally the 'tsunokakushi' is put over the wig.
次に鬘を囲むように「角隠し」をつけていきます。


We had a very captive audience.
今日の観客の反応はとても良いようです。


Next we showed our secrets in dressing the model as we prepare
her for the show.  Each layer of kimono is put on.
そしていよいよ衣装を着ていく様子をデモンストレーションしました。
白無垢からウエディングドレスまで4パターンの衣装に短い時間で
変化していくので、その衣装は試行錯誤の上ステージで素早く優雅に
そして美しく見えるよう工夫して作られています。
