先週まで2週間のトップをキープしていたCiara「Promise」に変わって、今週はLloyd Featuring Lil' Wayne「You」が堂々の1位を獲得。

1986年ルイジアナ州ニューオーリンズ生まれのロイド君。Spandau Ballet「True」を引用したミディアムチューン「You」は2ndアルバム『Street Love』(2007年3月13日輸入盤発売予定)からの1stシングルです。

2004年7月輸入盤発売の1stアルバム『Southside』からは以下の2曲がヒットを記録。

01. Southside (2004年7月24日付全米R&Bチャート13位～2週間)
02. Hey Young Girl (2004年10月9日付全米R&Bチャート61位～2週間)

今回の「You」が初の全米R&Bナンバーワンということになりますね。

ロイド君、実は男の子4人組グループのN-Toonに在籍してました。さすがにN-トゥーンといってもピンとこないかもしれませんが、2000年にアルバム『Toon Time』でデビューを飾り、1stシングル「Ready」(2000年4月15日付全米R&Bチャート64位～2週間)が小ヒットを記録してます。アルバムは当時のユニバーサルビクターから国内盤も発売されたんですよね。
あまりヒットには結び付かなかったものの「Ready」ってすごくいいバラードですよ。機会があったらぜひ聞いてみてくださいな。

2006年リリースのアルバム『Gabriel & Dresden』(輸入盤)から、全米では「Tracking Treasure Down」(2006年7月1日付全米ダンスチャート1位)に続く2曲目のナンバーワンということになります。
