今年の夏はお天道様がでなくって枯れているように みえたが 枯れてなかった。山椒の芽吹きだ。芽出たい🌱6月~10 月までの 長梅雨のお陰で。

毎年、何のためらいもなく言っているこの言葉。「明けまして」は、「年が明けた」ということを指していますが、「おめでとう」って、なんでしょう？
どうして我々は今まで疑問もなく「めでたい」ことを「めでたい」と言ってしまっていたのか？ 今回はこの「めでたい」という言葉について考えてみました。
■「目出たい」
最も多く見かける「めでたい」の漢字表記。筆者はこれを見て、その意味に驚愕しました。「目を出したい」つまり、新年早々、我々は「眼球を飛び出させたい」と、皆に言って回っているのです！
お祝いごと、とくに妊娠がわかった際などにも「おめでとう」「おめでた」と言いますが、あれも全て
「アナタに良いことがあったから、私は眼球を飛び出させたいです」
と宣言していることになるのです！
もはや、スプラッター。眼球が飛び出していいのは、ゾンビだけです。
「芽出たい」もチラホラ見かけますが、どちらかといえば新年にしろ、その他のお祝いごとにしても「幸福という芽が出た」状況なので、どうにもそこで「これから芽を出したい」と宣言することがしっくりきません。
■本当の語源
気になって色々調べてみたところ「愛でたい」、美術品や恋人などを「めでる」というようなときに使うアレですね。 これが、正式な語源という説が有力だそうです。
「新しい年を、愛したい」
