Neowinによると、中国政府がGoogleのメールサービス「Gmail」へのアクセスをブロックしている事が分かりました。
Googleの検索サービスへの検閲やYouTubeへのアクセス遮断などは前からありましたが、「Gmail」へのアクセスが完全に遮断されるのは今回が初めてで、ブロックはIPレベルで行われている事からプロキシやVPNを介してアクセスする事が可能とのこと。
米Googleは12月22日（現地時間）、5月に披露したステアリングもない自動運転カーの“完全に機能する”最新プロトタイプが完成したと発表した。
2015年中には北カリフォルニア州の公道で走行させたいとしている。
新しいプロトタイプ新プロトタイプには、最初のモデルにはなかったステアリングなどのマニュアル運転用ツールが付いているが、9月のGoogle+への投稿によると、これはカリフォルニア州法で義務付けられているからという。テスト走行中、必要に応じてマニュアルに切り替えられるようになっているが、最終的にはこれらのツールは撤去する計画という。
新プロトタイプの画像を5月に披露されたプロトタイプ（以下の画像）と比較すると、ヘッドライトが付き（5月のモデルは描かれたものだった）、ルーフトップのセンサーがコンパクトになり、ホイールも変わった。
5月に披露されたプロトタイプGoogleで自動運転カープロジェクトを推進する共同創業者のサーゲイ・ブリン氏は7月、このプロジェクトについて、実現すれば高齢者や障害者に移動手段を提供でき、自家用車が不要になるといった社会の変革をもたらせると語った。具体的なロードマップは公表されていない。
新旧比較（右が新モデル）米Googleは12月16日（現地時間）、GoogleドライブのファイルをGmailに直接添付できるようにしたと発表した。
Googleドライブのファイルは、共有に設定してリンクをGmailで送ることはできたが、直接添付すれば、Googleドライブ内でファイルを移動しても相手はファイルを開ける。
新規メッセージ作成画面に追加されたGoogleドライブアイコンをクリックするとGoogleドライブのファイル一覧が表示されるので、そこから添付したいファイルを選択すればいい。
ファイルはどんなフォーマットのものでも添付できるが、ファイルサイズは25Mバイトまで。また、Googleドキュメントの場合は従来通りリンクを使ってのみの共有になる。
ファイルを追加して送信しようとすると以下の画面が表示されるので、ここで共有設定する。共有せずに送信すると、受信側は共有をリクエストするよう促される。
Googleはまた、AndroidおよびiOS版のGoogleドライブアプリのアップデートも発表した。iOSでは他のアプリからGoogleドライブにファイルをアップロードできるようになり、Androidでは「OK, Google」でドライブ内のファイルを検索できるようになる。Androidの新機能は数週間中にローリングアウトする。
また、両方のモバイルアプリで、Googleマップの「マイマップ」に直接アクセスし、共有できるようになった。

米Googleが、Gmailの新規アカウント作成で2011年から義務付けていたGoogle+のプロフィール作成を任意に変更した。米検索マーケティング企業WordStreamが9月19日（現地時間）に報じ、Googleが認めた。Googleによると、変更したのは9月初旬という。
Gmailの新規アカウント作成プロセスの「一般公開のGoogle+プロフィールを作成」のステップに、「使用しない」という選択肢が追加された。
「使用しない」を選択して先に進めるようになった従来は、プロフィールを作成しないと先に進めなかった。
従来の新規アカウント作成には「使用しない」選択肢はなかった（画像は2011年のもの）Googleは7月にGoogle+の実名ポリシーを終了しており、ニックネームでのプロフィール作成も可能になったので、あえてプロフィールを作成しない理由は従来より減っている。また、ハングアウトの制限のない利用やGoogle+の高度な写真編集ツールを使いたい場合はGoogle+のプロフィール登録が必要だ。
