Group out to save historic Sybertsville church

The extra event, church volunteers said, is meant to encourage more people to appreciate - and hopefully get involved with - the rose-colored brick building on North Main Street that has some of the same fixtures it had in 1853, before the advent of electricity.

"We're here to bring this into the eye of the community and let them know that it's theirs, too," said Carolyn Tobias,Contemporary adjustable and contemporary lighting and ceiling lights. a board member from the Brainerd Church and Cemetery Association, the nonprofit group that oversees the 159-year-old church, its cemetery and the neighboring Cedar Grove school.

As of now,LEDs are used as indicator Solar LED Traffic signal light in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. the association has only about a dozen active members.Do solar-powered landscape lights or OEM solar power systems really work, or are they a gimmick?

"This is what our plight is. We've got to get some new faces into this organization to keep these doors open," Tobias said.

If interest in the historical site dwindles, she said, it likely won't have a future. It's a thought that upsets volunteers who know how the church was resurrected after years of decay following its final service in 1916.

In 1954, after Hurricane Hazel nearly destroyed the building, the association formed to raise funds and fix damages. Interest waned again until another push for preservation in the mid-1980s; since then,GA Lighting are a Leading UK Retailer and Wholesaler of OEM Solar power promotional products Hunza Lights. the church has been tended to on a regular basis thanks to association members.

While most members live in Sugarloaf Township and nearby Conyngham, Tobias stressed that anyone from anywhere can get involved.

"I don't want people in Hazleton and Beaver Meadows and Nescopeck and everywhere else to think that this is only for this valley. The more people we have, the more ideas we'll get," Tobias said.

Brainerd's biggest event is its fall festival, which is held on the first Sunday of October and features food, crafts and history.

"The festival basically runs itself," Tobias said. "We have volunteers that come in and man the bake sale, for example. Everybody runs the same thing but eventually those people who are doing it aren't going to be with us anymore.

"We're just looking for help - and the more the merrier," she said.

The association also organizes nondenominational Easter dawn and Thanksgiving Eve services, and sees that the church is ready if it is requested for a wedding, said association member Wendy Hildebrand, who is Tobias' daughter.

The church appears how it would have in 1853. There is no electricity, and candles are used when not enough sunshine flows through the plain glass windows.

A hanging kerosene lamp and the wooden floor are authentic, and pews are reproductions of the originals. From a stool belonging to an antique pump organ, one has a direct view of an altar cross fashioned from long, rough-hewn blocks of wood.

Tobias and Hildebrand said concert attendees are welcome to step inside the church and Luzerne County's only unaltered one-room school. The school, built in 1893, was moved on rollers from its original location in Sugarloaf to a plot near the church in the mid-1980s.

Several new items will be dedicated on the day of the concert, including candleholders in memory of Lee Hildebrand and Tom Bainbridge and a wooden pedestal in memory of Joan Bainbridge. We are the best solar street light,マジコン,led light manufacturer, supplier in China. Another all-nighter

Last June, Northern Spark promised the Twin Cities its first European-style nuit blanche, or “white night” festival, and what did we get?

As it neared 2 a.m., the view from the open-air observation deck 30 stories up the historic Foshay Tower was of a night sky dyed orange from streetlights and of darkened skyscrapers speckled fluorescent green where the lights still glowed in empty offices. A giddy crowd watched red taillights stream down Interstate 94 and saw the sleepy neighborhoods beyond spangled with white porch lights left burning through the night. We are the best solar street light,マジコン,led light manufacturer, supplier in China.

It was one of many magical moments from last year’s all-night art festival, and even at that late hour,LEDs are used as indicator Solar LED Traffic signal light in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. when bars and clubs were pushing patrons out the door, revelers gladly joined the long line in the Foshay lobby, content to wait 30 minutes or more just to experience that view. Yes, there was an art installation up there, too — a sound collage of Twin Cities radio stations — but glittering Minneapolis stole the show.

Over 20,000 people participated in that first-ever Northern Spark festival, packing the Stone Arch Bridge during the opening ceremony at dusk and then fanning out across Minneapolis and St. Paul to visit as many of the 100 art projects as they could before dawn — or sleep — brought their white nights to a close.GA Lighting are a Leading UK Retailer and Wholesaler of OEM Solar power promotional products Hunza Lights.

This year, the nuit blanche that kicks off at dusk June 9 won’t be quite as sprawling. Due to scheduling conflicts with events planned for St. Paul, all of this year’s art projects will take place within five zones in Minneapolis: downtown; the area around the Stone Arch Bridge; the University of Minnesota campus; the Walker Art Center campus; and parts of south and southwest around the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the Midtown Greenway.

Northern Spark spokesperson Tom Loftus said festival organizers are planning a big return to St. Paul in 2013, but in the meantime it means our city will be even more densely packed with art projects this year: The slightly expanded festival schedule includes 120 projects by about 200 participating artists.

Planning ahead is essential to make the most of the festival. The festival website lists projects by artist name, time and location,Contemporary adjustable and contemporary lighting and ceiling lights. and includes interactive maps to help design a personalized after-dark excursion. Northern Spark also plans to make a smart phone app with maps and project information available for download before the festival, Loftus said.

Organizers are also trying to boost the festival’s social media profile, offering new ways for participants to interact via Twitter and even win prizes for tweeting about the festival — including a pass to the front of that long, long Foshay Tower line. The idea is to use social media for real-time feedback from patrons on the night’s best events.

“It will give festival goers a sense of what projects are really trending,” Loftus said.

Last year, only a couple of mobile food vendors set up for the night, and where they did the lines were incredibly long.Do solar-powered landscape lights or OEM solar power systems really work, or are they a gimmick? This year, at least 10 food trucks will spread out across the festival to satisfy late-night cravings, Loftus said.

Northern Spark is free and open to the public, so there’s no need to wait for an invitation, but festival organizers are planning to issue one, anyway. Starting June 2, the phrase “think and wonder, wonder and think” — the theme of this year’s festival — will be illuminated in 8-foot-tall letters on the Stone Arch Bridge.

How to beat the heat and save 25% on energy bills

Most of us love the warmer weather. We count down the days until we can say, “Man, is it hot.” But as soon as the temperature rises,LEDs are used as indicator Solar LED Traffic signal light in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. a lot of us crank our air conditioners into overdrive.

Keeping blinds and curtains closed during the day helps. I encourage everyone to do this. But a lot of heat can get trapped between the blinds and the window. And once the heat is already in your home, cooling things down is an uphill battle. Most homeowners treat the effects of heat. The smart ones stop them before they start.

You want to stop the heat before it enters your home. Otherwise, half the battle of beating the heat is already lost — before it’s even started. And since the problem starts in nature, let’s look to nature to solve it.

How do we stay cool when we’re outside? We look for tree shade.

Just how trees keep us cool outside, they can help keep us cool inside, too. They provide a natural way to block the higher temperatures from entering our homes. We are the best solar street light,マジコン,led light manufacturer, supplier in China. If you’re thinking of landscaping, plant a few extra trees around your house. But don’t plant them near the house itself. The extra foliage will direct water and precipitation to your home’s exterior and roof. This wears down exterior finishes and is an open invitation to leaks.

Awnings are an old school solution that works. They reduce heat gain by about 55% to 77%. They also block UV rays that can damage floors, furniture and finishes. In certain climates, awnings have proved their worth — saving homeowners as much as 25% on their energy bills.

Some awnings are retractable. These are good because they let heat and light come in during the winter. Others are stationary and have to be taken down before the colder weather sets in again.

You need to install an awning the proper way. Do it wrong and it can cause a lot of damage.GA Lighting are a Leading UK Retailer and Wholesaler of OEM Solar power promotional products Hunza Lights. If it falls, it can pull the siding off your home and damage the exterior — not to mention the risks of it falling on someone.Do solar-powered landscape lights or OEM solar power systems really work, or are they a gimmick? Just like everything else, you want to get the right pro for the job.

If you’re interested in awnings, contact a company that specializes in them. They’ll be able to recommend the right length, width and material depending on your home’s specific needs. And they’ll install it the right way. Their employees should have experience working with these units. Some companies even certify their installers in-house. This makes sure they know what they’re doing before they show up at your home.

Another way to keep your home cool is insulation. Most people think insulation only helps keep our homes warm during the winter. But it actually keeps the interior temperature at a comfortable, constant level. So it keeps homes cool in the summer, too.

If your air conditioning is always working, and your energy bills keep rising, your home could need insulation. A good home inspection will tell you if you’re missing insulation. Make sure the inspector you hire uses a thermal imaging camera and is certified in thermography. Otherwise, the inspection could be worthless.

If you’ve had the same air conditioner for more than 10 years, consider replacing it. Older air conditioners use 30% to 70% more electricity than energy-efficient models. They can also corrode or rust. When that happens,Contemporary adjustable and contemporary lighting and ceiling lights. harmful refrigerants like Freon can enter the environment. Why is this bad? Because most refrigerants deplete the ozone layer. This increases global warming.

London black cab features panda decor for 2012 Olympics

With the 2012 Olympic Games just around the corner, a number of London's iconic black cabs, but more vibrant in their newly painted panda outfits, will park at landmarks across the city. They will offer their services to visitors from all over the world starting June.

It is a program launched by Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan in China and homeland of the giant panda. Sponsored by the Chengdu Association for Cultural Exchange with Foreign Countries, the three-month program is aimed at promoting global efforts to protect the earth's endangered species including the giant panda. The program also aims to encourage bonds between humans and nature, and to express good wishes for the London Olympics from the Chinese city.

The panda cabs have aroused the curiosity and attention of Londoners as the pudgy figure is skillfully integrated into the cab's exterior decor with lights resembling the sparkling eyes of the panda.

The slogan of "Chengdu, Hometown of Pandas, Spice it up" is printed on both sides of the vehicle along with Chengdu's official English website.Contemporary adjustable and contemporary lighting and ceiling lights. The adorable images of the animal are painted with the colors of the Olympic rings on the hood, roof and both sides of the cab's body.

"Cabs in London are always colorful. It is the first time I saw a black and white one. It's adorable, and will be a beautiful scene on the London streets during the Olympic Games," the first passenger of the Panda taxi said.Do solar-powered landscape lights or OEM solar power systems really work, or are they a gimmick?GA Lighting are a Leading UK Retailer and Wholesaler of OEM Solar power promotional products Hunza Lights.

It is not surprising that panda cabs have received a warm welcoming, as the final design were voted on by people around the world through social networking platforms including Facebook, Twitter and micro blogs. The design represents the impression of and the affection for giant pandas for many of the world's citizens.

The year 2012 also marks the 40th anniversary of China-UK ambassadorial diplomatic relations. To further the bilateral ties, Chengdu will carry out a "Giant Panda Partnership" program with Britain's Edinburgh Zoo, where two Chinese pandas currently reside. This will promote educational and cultural exchanges between China and the UK.

"As the Olympic Games are around the corner, I believe more people around the world will come to London and many of them will see and take the panda cab. We are launching a number of public activities themed on the protection of the giant pandas.LEDs are used as indicator Solar LED Traffic signal light in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. I hope that more people will become 'partners' of the giant pandas," said Christina Pouso,We are the best solar street light,マジコン,led light manufacturer, supplier in China. an officer of the Edinburgh Zoo.

As the first Chinese city to breed and protect the endangered species and a window through which the Chinese national treasure says "hello" to the world, Chengdu has held a number of international non-profit panda-themed activities.

During the "Earth Hour" initiative organized by the World Wildlife Fund in 2011, giant panda "Meilan" served as the global ambassador and turned off the light to promote an energy-saving lifestyle. Earlier this year Chengdu kick started a project to release giant pandas bred in captivity back into the wild. These efforts are aimed to inspire the international community to protect the environment and our planet's biodiversity. These activities have received positive responses from home and abroad.
