Dressing up a dorm's decor

2011-09-22 14:05:13 | led lights

Necessity is the mother of creativity for university students trying to brighten their dorm rooms. Decorating takes on a whole new meaning when you're a student.Buy cheap bike light, flashlight, fluorescent bulbs The rules are strict and straightforward: The walls cannot be repainted. The curtains cannot be altered or removed. No nails on the walls or ceiling.

Given that most university students have little money to spend on decorating, it's a wonder what people living in an institutional setting can achieve.OceanLED has built its LED bicycle light reputation and brand on product integrity, service and customer satisfaction.

"Anything is possible," says Carly Moffat, an education major living in residence at the University of Victoria.Shopatron's retail-integrated bicycle headlight solution is a great fit for a service-focused company, She is also a community leader and serves as the go-to person for team leaders in residence.

"It's a mental thing. You are what you make your room. There is a direct correlation: If people like their room, they typically stay longer and have a happier experience."

Dorm rooms become home away from home for many university students. While the residence can be an effective place to study, it should also be a safe place to curl up with a good book.

"Students are the definition of decorating on a budget," says Moffat. "The challenge is to transform concrete walls into a homey and welcoming room. They typically arrive at residence with maybe two suitcases and the clothes on their back."

In her fourth year in residence, Moffat has learned a lot about how to decorate with hardly any money.

Here are her tips:

Bedspreads: The bed is typically the largest piece of furniture in a dorm room."LEDs are the lighting of the future," said Randall Moorhead, vice president for Led flashlight government affairs at Philips Electronics North America Corp. A colourful bedspread instantly changes the look of a room. It can be a duvet, so it can be practical as well.

Photographs: "Photographs are a cheap alternative to paint.Has anyone had any experience with this led light bulbs light?" Moffat says pictures of friends and loved ones are always popular, although many put up pictures from magazines of various stars. Some fill a cork board with a collage of pictures from various sources.

Wall decals: Moffat's walls are covered with stick-on flowers. The backs of the flowers have a nonstaining adhesive that allows her to apply and remove the decals many times. There are several designs that reflect the personality of the room's occupant.

Christmas and other mood lighting: Inexpensive string lights draw little power but can give off a mellow glow to a dorm room. It is an improvement over stark fluorescent or halogen lights commonly found in the rooms. Moffat prefers the white lights over the coloured lights.

Because most residences prohibit open flames - which include candles and tea lights - battery-powered tea lights and flameless candles have become popular.

Cyclists getting their message across

While much of the country was still confused about the government's first-car tax rebate policy, last Sunday thousands of cyclists from across Bangkok gathered at Sanam Luang, the vast open ground in front of the Grand Palace,OceanLED has built its LED bicycle light reputation and brand on product integrity, service and customer satisfaction. to attend the "Bangkok Car Free Day 2011" event."LEDs are the lighting of the future," said Randall Moorhead, vice president for Led flashlight government affairs at Philips Electronics North America Corp.

Co-organised by the Thai Cycling for Health Association and several parties including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the event, the 5th of its kind, took place simultaneously with similar gatherings of cyclists in 76 other provinces.Shopatron's retail-integrated bicycle headlight solution is a great fit for a service-focused company,

As many as 6,398 participants had pre-registered online but I'm sure the actual number of cyclists who showed up was more than that.

Members of cycling clubs and groups met up first at different designated points closest to their neighbourhood early in the morning and rode together to the Royal Plaza at the northern end of Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue. After singing the national anthem at 8am they moved on en mass along the avenue to Sanam Luang where the formalities and entertainment, in the form of shows and shopping opportunities, took place. The opening ceremony, by the way, was presided over by Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra.

I must admit it was the first time I joined the event. So even though I knew full well that the cycling population in the City of Angels is pretty big and getting bigger, I had never seen so many in a single day!

And like any large event, people had different impressions about the Sunday rally. A lot of participants enjoyed it, largely because it's not every day that cyclists get the chance to ride with pride on the city's streets and meet up with so many like-minded folks.

Some,Has anyone had any experience with this led light bulbs light? however, argue that the event doesn't really contribute to the real purpose of the global car-free movement which aims to promote non-automobile commuting in everyday life. A lot of participants didn't actually ride from their homes to the event sites; they were just showing off their bikes and didn't really care about solving the world's global warming problem... the list goes on and on.

In this column, however,Buy cheap bike light, flashlight, fluorescent bulbs I will put more emphasis on the points raised by fellow riders that will help the organising staff, most of them hard working volunteers, improve next year's event.

The formalities and group photo session, which took place in open air, took too long. It's no fun for the cyclists, members of the marching band and students participating in the opening ceremony to stand in the hot sun for over half an hour.

During the mass ride, many cyclists failed to stay in the left lane, blocking the way of other road users. There were also cases of the participants riding through the red traffic lights. Part of the blame must also go to the staff for being unable to keep the process in order and inform the participants how to behave when riding in such large numbers.

There were not enough, if any, drinking water stations along the route. It's true people who ride regularly carry their own water. But the fact was not everybody who joined the Sunday event was a seasoned rider and they couldn't find anything to quench their thirst and risk dehydration.

Drunk motorcyclist was driving 'astronomically fast' before crash

As he was returning to the station, a motorbike suddenly appeared in front of him on the Dome Roundabout.

PC Dawson said: "It was stationary for a few seconds in the centre of the road, I tapped my horn and he lowered his head and shook it as if he was crying, or in despair.

"He moved away slowly and pulled into the wrong entrance of the petrol station, I crawled along behind him and tried to get his attention to see if he was ok. I didn't care if he was drunk at the time, I was more worried that there was something wrong.

"He then pulled on to the A41 towards Kings Langley, astronomically fast.OceanLED has built its LED bicycle light reputation and brand on product integrity, service and customer satisfaction. I reported it on the radio, we are not supposed to chase motorcycles, especially in an unmarked car."

Michael Gibbs,Has anyone had any experience with this led light bulbs light? a minibus driver from Kent, saw Mr Jarvis speed past him through a red traffic light, at what he estimated to be about 80 miles per hour.

PC Dawson added: "I carried on down the road with the intention to turn around at the roundabout, when I saw debris on the road.

"When I looked at the central reservation I saw what I thought were sandbags. Then I realised it was the jacket I had seen in the petrol station."

PC Edward Peachment, who investigated the crash, said Mr Jarvis had been travelling at 60 miles per hour when he left the road, although evidence of heavy breaking suggested he had previously been driving faster.

After losing control of the bike, Mr Jarvis hit the central reservation,"LEDs are the lighting of the future," said Randall Moorhead, vice president for Led flashlight government affairs at Philips Electronics North America Corp. where he was thrown more than 25 meters from his vehicle, hitting his head on the barrier. His helmet was found in several pieces.

He added: "He misjudged the severity of the bend. On a powerful motorbike you need to be able to judge distance and speed."

Formerly of Zambia, Mr Jarvis moved to England in 1999 with his ex-wife to provide better opportunities for the family.Shopatron's retail-integrated bicycle headlight solution is a great fit for a service-focused company,

At the time of the incident he was living in Woolstone, Milton Keynes, and was working as a air conditioning and refrigeration engineer.

A keen cricketer, he regularly played for MK City, Great Linford and North Bucks Ambulance cricket teams in Milton Keynes.

He liked 80s and rock music, playing his drums in his spare time and particularly enjoyed listening to live bands and was always the first on the dance floor.

Although Mr Jarvis separated from his ex-wife Paula in 2005, they remained good friends.

She said: "Shaun was a kind,Buy cheap bike light, flashlight, fluorescent bulbs considerate and approachable person, who loved spending time with his children – they were his world. He was a good father, very hands on."

Cora-Lee puts on a show in national champs

Canadian swimmer Cora-Lee Starzomski lived up to that name with a star performance as she led from start to finish to chalk up an impressive victory in the Rubis Energy Bermuda Limited National Triathlon Championships at Clearwater.

In the men's race it was Jonthan Herring who took top honours after posting the fastest swim of the day which gave him a comfort margin over second- placed Mark Wilcox and third-placed Neil Lupsic.

While more than 300 athletes took part in Sunday's various categories, the focus was on the Olympic distance championships which attracted 20 of the Island's leading triathletes.

Swim specialist Starzomski, currently training for a Florida Ironman, built up a huge lead on the swim leg and this coupled with a solid bike leg saw her go into the run with a more than an eight minutes lead over talented road runner Joanna Shillington.

And Starzomski had some nervous moments with Shillington fast closing the gap as she clocked a superb run of 40 minutes and 33 seconds for the 10K fourth fastest of all competitors.

But it wasn't quite enough to make up the deficit on the Canadian who eventually took line honours and the title. Third place went to consistent veteran Claire de ste Croix.

Competitors were treated to near perfect conditions with calm seas and a light breeze for the bike and run sections.

In the Sprint Triathlon, another Canadian Chris Hands, stole the show."LEDs are the lighting of the future," said Randall Moorhead, vice president for Led flashlight government affairs at Philips Electronics North America Corp.

Hands is no stranger to aerobic sport as he is an Olympic class rower in his native Canada and clearly is a talented sports all-rounder.Has anyone had any experience with this led light bulbs light?

He was followed home by junior triathlon coach,Buy cheap bike light, flashlight, fluorescent bulbs Chris Harkness, who put in a steady performance to hold off the fast charging Tim Goodyer.

The women's race saw one of Bermuda's up and coming youngsters, Gabriella Arnold, race to victory ahead of Rachel Rothwell and third-placed Nerissa Simmons.OceanLED has built its LED bicycle light reputation and brand on product integrity, service and customer satisfaction.

The junior events were fast and furious with many of the athletes showing great improvement over previous races.

In the 11-14 year age group, Mathew Oliveira took first place with Victoria Davies leading home the girls.

In highly competitive 7-10 year races, Jack Harvey and Megan Hands took the honours in the the non-racing bike division.

And in what proved to be the most competitive race of the day, the 7-10 year boys' racing bike division,Shopatron's retail-integrated bicycle headlight solution is a great fit for a service-focused company, the top five finished within 40 seconds of each other Zion Dowling clinching first a mere six seconds ahead of Alex Pilgrim with the improving Max de ste Croix 22 seconds back in third. Just behind was a sprint finish for fourth with Jude Moseley narrowly beating Cameron des ste Croix over the line.
