Surveillance Video Sheds Light On Orlando Police Brutality Case

2011-09-13 15:44:21 | led strip

You've already seen the surveillance video of a woman being thrown to the ground. Orlando Police told WFTV’s Daralene Jones that a few minutes before the incident, the same video shows the victim in a very different light.Current versions use a LED diving flashlight tungsten filament and can cost as little as 50 cents per bulb

OPD said it shows a belligerent woman who refused to calm down.9 Dec 2010 – What would the perfect fluorescent lights be?That means an Bicycle lighting system Amphibian ordered online can be shipped to the customer from any authorized OceanLED dealer that has the product in stock. They said this full video wasn't released until now because it was part of that ongoing criminal investigation. The Shopatron system rechargeable bicycle light allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system.

We watched the two-hour video several times, and it's hard to make out every detail. But it's clear this brawl in front of the Central Station bar in downtown Orlando led to officer Livio Beccaccio slamming Lisa Wareham to the ground so hard that he broke her teeth.

Police said Wareham was in a black dress, running toward the fight involving her boyfriend. Almost immediately, she was knocked into a light pole,Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition and attacked Reid Robertson, the man she thought did it. But it was actually an officer.

Officers said Wareham was out of control.

"She was acting violently toward everyone," Orlando Police investigator Det. Pat Schneider said. "Yet mostly yelling racial slurs toward Reid Robertson."

Wareham's boyfriend held her in a bear hug to calm her down, and another friend tried to pull her away.

It was hard for us to see, even when we slowed down and froze the video. But police said at least one officer tried to restrain Wareham before she was slammed to the ground.

Beccaccio said previous attempts to restrain her didn’t work, and he claimd she hit him multiple times. We never saw that in the video.

We asked Wareham, "Was there a point when you thought ‘I should just let him restrain me?’"

"It happened too fast," Wareham said. "He grabbed me and then I was face-first."

Wareham's attorney said the bottom line is that Beccaccio should have used tried something else.

"Considering she is only 100 pounds and barely five foot tall… the cop does a WWF move, that is force that is far in excess of what was necessary," Wareham’s attorney Andrew Zelman said.

Wareham is still suing and working on a federal complaint.

Scanning

2011-09-13 15:43:50 | led lights

Plustek gives you several choices for starting a scan, including black and white, grayscale, and color buttons on the scanner; calling up the Twain driver from a program; and calling up the scan utility from your computer. I found the utility the easiest to use.Carolyn believes magicshine bike light the future of lighting will be vastly different to what we currently To scan, you put the book on the platen, note whether the first or second page you scan will be upside down, and set the utility appropriately to rotate either even or odd pages by 180 degrees. You then pick a destination file format, which will normally be either searchable PDF or, if you want to edit the file, RTF.Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition

One nice touch that helps speed up the process is that you can scan as many pages as you like, one at a time, into a single batch before the processing step, which sends them to FineReader for recognition and then saves the file. For safety's sake, you can preview each page before scanning to the batch, to ensure it's positioned correctly on the scanner.

In my tests, it took about 9 seconds to prescan each page and 9 seconds more to scan it at 300 pixels per inch (ppi) in grayscale mode. If you include the time it takes to turn pages and set the book on the platen, you should be able to scan roughly 2 pages per minute. Black and white scans are faster,9 Dec 2010 – What would the perfect fluorescent lights be? but grayscale generally gives better text recognition, and the grayscale scans were easier to read on screen. Note too that thanks to the LED light source, which doesn't need time to warm up, the scan times are consistent from one to the next.

Although the OpticBook 4800 isn't really designed for general-purpose scanning, you can use it for photos or documents. As a photo scanner, it offers good enough quality for casual use, which is to say you can scan a photo to send as email or print at what you might think of as snapshot quality. However, if you want high-quality scans, you won't be satisfied.

Similarly, the scanner and its software did reasonably well on our standard OCR tests, recognizing Times New Roman text at sizes as small as 10 points and Arial text at 8 points without a mistake. However, without an automatic document feeder, you have to scan each page individually, which is a chore.

All told, the OpticBook 4800 makes an inherently time-consuming chore faster and easier than it would be on a standard, general-purpose flatbed. And by letting the pages lay flat, it does better-quality scans too. It's not as fast or easy as book scanners that put the book in a V-shaped cradle and then "scan" both facing pages at once by taking pictures with two digital cameras, but those book scanners tend to be more expensive as well. It's not quite Editors' Choice material, but among flatbed book scanners, it earns points for being fast, capable, and easy to use.

GE Lighting's Irick says reliable, system-level SSL solutions will prevail

When Thomas Edison developed the first light bulb in 1879 it lasted less than 14 hours. Today's LED lamps are rated for 25,000 hours – that's 22.8 years when the lamp is operated for three hours a day.Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition "You need to make sure you can count on the company that supplies that lighting solution," said Jaime Irick, president and CEO of GE Lighting Solutions. In a recent press conference at the company headquarters at Nela Park in Cleveland, Ohio, Irick outlined a future of lighting that is dominated by solid-state solutions, making all other technologies obsolete, eventually.

GE has made a stronger investment in its LED sector recently, increasing its R&D personnel by 2.5X in the last three years. In Cleveland, they have 30 LED technologists researching next-generation optics, thermals components and electronics,That means an Bicycle lighting system Amphibian ordered online can be shipped to the customer from any authorized OceanLED dealer that has the product in stock. while 90 LED engineers investigate performance, timing and reliability. This group developed the 40W equivalent 450-lm LED lamp on which subsequent 60W, 75W and 100W equivalent LED lamps will be based. In the mean time, customers will also have the choice of high-efficiency halogen bulbs, CFLs or LEDs to meet the energy-efficiency standard requirements. "It's all about choice for our customers, but they were looking for more energy efficient alternatives, even before the legislation was enacted,The Shopatron system rechargeable bicycle light allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system." said Irick.

When asked when LEDs are likely to penetrate the general indoor lighting market, Irick said he expects that to still be 10 years in the future. However, LED costs are coming down at approximately 20% per year, and the introduction rate for LED lamps has accelerated. The bulb is General Electric Co.'s entry diving light into the field of light-emitting diode, or LED "We have 70 Energy Star LED products now and will have 120 by the end of the year,9 Dec 2010 – What would the perfect fluorescent lights be?" said Irick.

Irick points out that customers are dictating the form that lighting will take. "While other companies may have product expertise, GE's will offer the best system integration platform, bringing together the LED module, thermals, optics and drivers to provide the most efficient lighting platform for the application." One example is GE's LED edge lights, which are based on backlighting technology, and use LEDs around the perimeter of the panel and Rambus MicroLens technology to distribute the light uniformly across the panel.

Irick said that people are just beginning to envision new lighting applications. For instance, on airplanes, controlled RGB LEDs are being tested in cabin lighting to help passengers sleep during night flights.

Irick indicated that the industry is in a period of transition. He said that GE is behind the efforts of the FTC with the new Lighting Facts label. "The DOE has found that nearly thirty percent of the products tested in its Caliper studies do not meet manufacturer's performance claims. In fact, we have already seen some products being pulled from retail shelves," he said. "This will help level the playing field."

Research project targets 40% reduction in power consumed by LED lighting

2011-09-13 15:42:27 | led strip

Partner companies in the EnLight research project are aiming to reduce energy consumption of interior LED lighting by 40%.

Germany's annual power consumption is approximately 500 terawatt-hours (TWh) or 500 trillion watt-hours,Various R4ds at great prices for professional divers! with lighting accounting for almost 12% of that figure. Even today, as much as 11.Blackburn's lightest, brightest Book scanner just got better5 TWh or 20% of the electricity needed for lighting could be saved in Germany alone if incandescent lamps were consistently replaced by more energy-efficient LED technologies. The potential saving is equivalent to the annual output of a large-scale power plant.

EnLight aims to exploit the full potential of LED-based lighting for saving further power through groundbreaking innovations in the LED lighting modules that include the LED and the driver electronics. The research is aimed at areas including changes to the socket standards. For example,9 Dec 2010 – What would the perfect fluorescent lights be? at present the E27 base – the standard base of incandescent lamps across Europe – is not designed to be operated with light management systems, as is necessary for improved energy efficiency.

Another goal pursued by EnLight is to develop programmable controls and innovative sensors for intelligent LED lighting solutions. In addition, the aim is for intelligent wireline and wireless networking of LED lighting systems and for enabling their energy-optimised operation to save as much as 40% of the electricity. The project will also explore entirely new light functions: LED light sources will be able to automatically adapt their brightness to the ambient light.

The German partners' work is integrated into the European ENIAC Joint Undertaking project “EnLight”, headed by Philips.Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition The European joint research project brings together 30 partners from six countries whose collaboration will further strengthen Europe's leading global position in the lighting system sector. The Shopatron system rechargeable bicycle light allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system.

The partners from industry and research are shouldering about 5 million or approximately 45% of the project costs, with additional funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (4.1 million) and the European Union (2 million).
