Tonight`s live was great! Glynis Martin is a superb vocalist. The combination of Hankoya,Glynis,and me is one of great chemistry.
An acoustic live situation means more freedom and communication. If you have a chance,please see for yourself,with my band,how this chemistry works. This month (10/20) we will have a full band live at The Cha Cha House in Kichijoji. I want to know your opinion.

Tonight's Live

How nice it feels when the club is crowded! I can see all of your faces from behind my keyboard. Music makes all of us happy,the people onstage,and the people out in the audience. I did not decide anything about this show until I got onstage. My members have to be surprised for every song. Still,they gave a fresh spontaneous performance. This makes me feel so good. Maybe no rehearsal is good. Mistakes and all,we felt good feelings onstage. Please tell me your comments!






My friend Ruika came and sang"Lets Stay Together"with me for my encore! So,all in all,we had such a good time. Did you miss it? Zannen! Dont miss the next live at Cha Cha House(10/20). You must see this next live. It will be the bomb,(bakudan) I guarantee!

Harmonica Live！

Tatsuya Nishiwaki`s Live at Blues alley was so great! His harmonica playing was too good! (urayamashii)My friend,Kenji Hino(Jino),and the other musicians gave a great show. He will join me at Cha Cha House on Oct 1st. Look for a harmonica duo!






Can you see the girl in the background? Mooooeeeee! My Roricon imagination is boiling!!!!!(just a joke) For those of you who dont know,there is a popular TV drama series in Japan(Densha Otoko"train man")it is a satire of those geeks who worship young girls dressed in costumes(in this case a maid). I thought it was too cute,and so strange!

If you come to my show,please dont dress this way! I wont be able to perform!

Today I went to Shinjuku Gyoen for a relaxing walk. It was a beautiful day in the park.






Did you know that Shinjuku Gyoen was somebody`s private garden?
I wish it was mine! Just for today,it is!

Shanti Live

Tonight was Shanti`s live at Motion Blue. Shanti invited me to be a guest musician. I joined her onstage for 2 songs. One song was my original composition! I was happy to hear my song! Thank you,Shanti for inviting me,and singing my song with beautiful emotion! On November 17th,Shanti and I will perform together at Mobius,with Ishinari-kun. It will be sweet and sensuous! So dont miss it!






Tatsuya Nishiwaki was also a guest musician tonight. He is also a keyboardist and harmonica player. His chromatic(with the button)and diatonic(without the button)harmonica playing was excellent!

I will go to see his live show at Blues Alley this Sunday!

Well,that was a busy time this week,but I feel relaxed,after seitai,hiking,onsen,and tonight,great music!

HIKING ～箱根～

Today I went to Hakone to go hiking. Miyanoshita eki de orita. Nice,huh? Ii tenki datta! Nice weather!






Isnt it beautiful? Japan is amazing! The mountains are so steep! I can get a workout from my hiking.






Ahh! Its so perfect here. I can sit for hours and meditate. The sound of the river is like music to me.






Did I tell you that one of my hobbies is to photograph old and abandoned,broken up Japanese houses? Well,this one is perfect for me!






This shrine is for the god of onsen(hot springs).　Im just about to go to onsen,so Im paying some respect! This onsen was the best thing for my body! I melted out some of the tension in my shoulders and my back! Kimochii yokatta!

I can go to sleep so quickly tonight.

Brenda Vaughn Live

Tonight,BrendaVaughn`s live show at Blues Alley was the best ever! A sold out show,standing room only,everyone had a great time.






Some friends came out to see us! We were happy for their support! Maybe you know these guys!






Some friends joined us onstage for the finale song. This was a choir! Patti Labelle`s"You Are My Friend",was so energising to the stage,and the crowd!





When Brenda sings a Gladys Knight song,she needs"The Pips"to help with chorus from the audience,so here are some volunteers! Kakkoii desho?

Albert Martin Live ＠CHA CHA

A very talented singer and guitarist,Albert Martin performed at Cha Cha house tonight. I was surprised to meet many people who were also at Velfarre,last week. This was great fun,and everybody enjoyed themselves immensely. Cha Cha house has a great piano and electric piano,so I love to play there,and feel free from "synthesised" sound! This is very important for the feeling of the music. Albert`s younger brother Glynis,who provided bass & vocals tonight,will be my featured guest singer at Cha Cha House,on Oct.20th. Look for our arrangements of great Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway songs,and some very rare and special songs from the 70`s era!

Tokyo Disco 祭り

And what a party it was! This 70`s disco night was a big success. Congradulations to the promoters Kinoshita and Kawabata,the great soul music lovers.






Velfarre was totally packed with soul lovers.






This event had 5 DJ`s and another band,Osaka Monorail,who rocked the house with their big horn section,and funky,James Brown tribute style show. Everybody wore their funky disco outfits,hats,wigs,shoes and dresses! The crowd was happy to hear my special 70`s menu,that I made especially for this event. We made you dance!






This crowd was so big,but every few meters,I could see the faces of so many people who have come to so many of my live shows! This makes me really happy! I wanted to say hello to everybody personally,but if I didnt,I will next time! I know that you love great music as much as I do. You wont get bored,or see me exactly the same way twice! Me and my members have more and more for you to see. Come see me again soon!

今夜のLiveはいかがでしたか？
Philip Woo Band、かなりFUNKY!!!!!!なLiveに仕上がってましたよね！
写真でもお分かりいただけるように、予約の方だけでなく当日の方もたくさん来ていただいて、おかげさまで「超！満員御礼」でした～！　メンバー達もいつもより余計にテンションが上がっていたようです。







そうです。シークレット・ゲストは一体誰だったかと言うと、ゴスペラーズの村上てつやさんでした！　以前、Philipが村上さんのソロLive
で演奏をしたのがきっかけで今回のジョイントが実現しました。　しかも１stと２ndに分けて、あわせて４曲も熱唱！(そのうちこの日のために２曲ほど新しい曲を注文!)　お忙しい中をぬって参加してくださいました。　Philipは「彼はMusic Loverだよ。スゴクまじめでNice Guyなんだ」と言っていました。　村上さん、本当にありがとうございました～！

What a nice evening! La Cana was full of people,and we all had a good time. Soulful,sensuous Brenda Vaughn wowed the Shimokitzawa home crowd.Shoko played an opening set for us,and did a great version of Minnie Riperton`s "Perfect Angel". Go,girl!







Look who came out! Shanti! Well, if you come to see me,you must sing a song. Subarashii! All in all,it was a great success. Thanks to the event maker,Masao Tsubaki.
If you happen to like vinyl records,nothing is better than Tsubaki`s Flash Disk Ranch in Shimokitazawa.( I love this shop!)

Todays live was so fun! Everybody was great. This jazzy and sensuous summer concert felt good. Thank you for coming!!!!!
I debuted one original song. I was so busy all this year,and I had no time to write music. But,from now I will write more and more...

Ishinari Masaton,Tommy Campbell,Tommy (Shanti`s papa)Snyder,Shanti,Oka Yuzo,and me,with flowers!Shanti`s papa played one song (drums). All the members were busy,but found the time to play with me. Im really happy!I will do more live with these people in the future. Together we can feel real music from the heart.

Last Toshi Live!!!

The members are signing each others tourbooks. Its just like the final day of high school.

We all gave this bottle of shochu to Toshi as an end-of-tour present. We will present it to him onstage before we take the final bow.

All this time and we never took a group photo! Now at our before stage prayer,we shot this one.

It was a great show! We hope to see each other and you fans soon!

We went to have a tebasaki party! Later,at another tebasaki resturant,we ate even more with the tour staff.

This was a wonderful tour. I could see the people and fans of so many places in Japan. Sightseeing was fantastic,and the food so delicious! Thank you Toshinobu Kubota for asking me once again to join your amazing tour. The music we made onstage was magical. Thank you ,Kubota`s Band Members AKA "The New York All Stars" for joining me in 5 unforgettable performances! And to the beautiful people of Japan,thank you for your loving support! I Love You!

Wow,what a night! To start with,Mobius was sold out in advance! Many people could not come inside. My apologies to those customers who did not get in! So sorry! Standing room was packed to the celing! The performance was superb.






Ty Stevens,a world-class performer! It has been my pleasure to share the stage with him. We performed his original songs,as well as both of our favorite songs.






Felicia,singing "Im Going Down". She also sang Aretha Franklin`s "A Natural Woman". Felicia,you are so great!






Yuri and Ty singing "The Closer I Get to You". So sweet.






Thanks for coming to the final N.Y.A,S. Live @Mobius! Tommorow is Fuji City,then to Nagoya with Toshi an the band. Soon the N.Y. members will go home to New York. Choooooo Samishii!
