This young man could not help himself,he had to get up and dance for the room! Its "Soul Train" style! He was a good dancer,and everybody got his groove!






This has been a good year! I remember all of your faces,and can feel your support,when you come again and again to see my band! Thank You! Ureshii!






I got happy after having my "dinosaur imo jochu special" thanks to Cha Cha house staff! So now I think I wanna dance!






Im dancing(!) Actually,I was telling everybody about James Brown,and how my sister would pay me to dance the James Brown ("The Skate") dance for her girlfriends. So,Brenda persuaded me to show everybody. As a bonus,the audience decided to pay me,tooo! Just like when I was 7 years old! Ha,ha!
How was my dancing?






Brenda`s family sent a DVD from America,and for a surprise,we showed it to her as she was coming to the stage for the second set! Her eyes got wet,and she was so happy. Then the birthday cake came out,and we sang for Brenda. Happy Birthday Brenda!We all love you!






Guest singers Argie Phine-Martin and Robbie Danzie joined us onstage. Tokyo`s finest world-class singers.

What a great party we had! I`m so happy that all of you came. If you didnt,please come next time! Next year we will have another end-of-year party,so dont miss it. Me and the band really love the Cha Cha House and manager Yuko. I will play there next year,so come and see us!






My fan,(K)gave me a bottle of Imo-Jochu! Thank you K!! Me and the Pink Panther are going to have a New Years toast. Hey Pink Panther,how about a dinosaur size shochu rock,Cha Cha style with me?

Moving Equipment

Today the Pink Panther and me rented a truck,to pickup my Leslie speaker and amplifier(for my organ,to use for my live show tomorrow),and bring it to Cha Cha House. The P.P. was my navi-neko. "Turn here,Philip!"..."No,not left! I said right!!!"






After moving that big,heavy speaker,me and the Pink Panther went shopping in preparation for New Years Day and holiday.Osechi ryori ! (New Years cuisine) Wow! Oishi so! That looks delicious. "Buy all 3 of these!",says the Pink Panther. Well,Okay!

Tomorrow night will be the party to end all parties! We have a funky and soul-packed show for all of you! Special guests,old and new friends,and over all,good vibes and spirits to end this great year!!!

Vocalist/keyboardist Kaleb James "KAGE Quartet" live at Crocodile was subarashii! Gary Scott (vocal,sax,perc.) and Brenda Vaughn,and Robbie Danzie on vocals.It was a great show.

Christmas Dinner

Tonight`s Christmas dinner was in a fancy resturant in Ginza! Wow! This was so delicious!!! Chotto,chotto,chotto!!!!!
Flambe of beef (cognac flamed beef) grilled on a stone was too good for words!






Ummm... I ordered a salad... So,when will you bring the rest? Is this salad supposed to come in 2 parts?






Hello! Did you run into a katana? Is that how you split yourself in two?






Yum,yum yum, yum, YUM!!!! Im sorrry! I must eat and eat and eat! Its too delicious!!!! I`ll talk to you soon,OK?

Its Christmas Eve! Now is the time for Panta Claus to bring Christmas presents to all the good boys and girls！ Im just getting started...

MIMI's LIVE

Japanese Soul singer MIMI,put together an all-star band for her Japan appearance at Sweet Basil. From Graham Central Station, Prince,Mariah Carey,Janet Jackson,Maze,Santana and more. This band was supercool funky! Four members are my good friends.(and also great friends of Brenda Vaughn)

Of course,it was great to see Robin Duhe and Billy Johnson of Maze (and Santana). Billy and I played with Noel Pointer and Patti Labelle together. Billy is one of my all time best friends! Great to see you,my brother!

Super keyboardist Eric Daniels,was off the hook! He plays with so many superstars,and has the skills that make me jealous! Good playing,Eric!

Extra super funky guitarist Wilton Rabb is an original member of Larry Graham`s band. He put that funky whip on the guitar! This is one reason that I miss home! Great playing,Wilton!






Im in the middle of 2 world class drummers. Billy Johnson and the great Tommy Campbell. You may know Tommy. He has played with the jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie,Sonny Rollins,John McLaughlin,Nancy Wilson and too many to mention. He lives and performs in Tokyo.

We had so much to talk about! We joked and laughed all night. I had such a good time! Mimi will return in the springtime.

Everybody Cha,Cha,Cha! What a great night at Cha Cha House. The house was packed,and the music was hot! Thank you to all of you for making this night Ultra-special!






Today,I sang! Im not a good singer,but I love to sing! Excuse me if Im not great,but with every member singing together with me,I feel safe!






Well,if Im going to sing,I must have a drink to make my body relax! The Cha Cha House staff made me a special "Dinosaur Imo Jyochu" drink,to help me sing better!






Two guitars is too cool! Satoshi Izumi came as a special guest,and made it double funky,with The Hank.This jam was a highlight of the evening!






Doesn`t it feel good,when the whole room is dancing? Well of course it does! All in all,tonight was a great success. The house was packed,and the music was hot! Everybody was happy,and me too! Please dont miss my end-of-year (bonenkai) party on December 30th. This is Brenda Vaughn`s birthday,and we will end the year in style!

What a day! I`ve been running since sunrise! Its time to sleep now...

明日はCHA CHAです～♪

今年も残すところあとわずか。　みなさんはどうお過ごしですか？　町にはイルミネーションが溢れ、心の中はウキウキ・ワクワク！といったところでしょうか☆　
明日は、吉祥寺のCHA CHA HOUSEでLIVEです☆　最近はお仕事でEVENTへの出演は多数ありましたが、５ピースBandでのPhilip自身のLiveとしては久々になりますね！　

今年、Philip Wooは意欲的にLIVEを行ってきました。　お客様の中には、古くからPhilip Bandを知って下さっている方々もいれば、何かのきっかけで新たにPhilip Bandを知って下さった方々もいたりと、LIVEの回数を重ねていく度に、まるで連鎖反応のように音楽の輪が広がっていくのを感じました。　それと同時に、Philip Woo Bandもそれに刺激されてか、より自分達の音のSKILL UPを求めたり・・・。　CALL AND RESPONSEと言いますか、Audienceから届くGood Vibeありきの成功なんだな～と毎回つくづく感じたものです☆　後２本も楽しんでくださいね！

Mobius

Tonight at Mobius was super funky,sexy,emotional,beautiful music,thanks to Ebony Fay. It was Hank`s first time to perform with Ebony,and he had a good time. Please look for future concerts with this team!






The Hank-i-nator! The Song Bank:Hank, Hankinsky, Hank You. What more can I say? A great guitarist,and a great friend!





I said before,that Mobius is a place that I feel most free to express myself. Playing just acoustic piano,I can lead the music anyplace,and find new things to play each time.
Ebony is a wonderful singer,and we will surely do more in the near future! Look out for a fresh groove!

GUNMA 2nd day！

Agatsuma-keikoku. Today I went hiking. This is a beautiful river gorge,with splendid views,fresh air,and not many people. I could relax and enjoy nature!






See how beautiful? It a shame that there is a dam being built here! In a few years ,the water will be a few hundred meters higher! I think its a little mottainai...






I drove through Kusatsu and contined to the end of the road. I found this ski area,and the base of the ropeway that will take skiiers to many ski runs. The Pink Panther says "Hey, what`s this white stuff?" I had to explain that it wasnt kakigori!






You can guess that there are many onsen around here in Kusatsu. This boiling river must be a source for the hot,stinky,but soothing water! From here I must choose today`s "Onsen"!






Well,I found a great onsen! Ahh...! My body is relaxed and my skin is so soft now! ("tsuru,tsuru") After a few baths and saunas,Im ready to go back to the big city!

GUNMA 1st day！

I took a little vacation in Gunma! I only have one and a half days,so I decided to make it nice! I rented this beautiful log house! Isnt it cool?






Forget about this tea,where is the nabe? Actually this is just a nice place to relax. Gunma is so beautiful,in the mountains,with rivers,waterfalls...







One of my favorite things to do is going hiking! Me and PP are about to cross over into the wild!







While we were on our hike we met a new friend! Ezoshika? I dont know,But he didnt move for a long,long time! We sat there just watching each other,until he ran away!







Why do panthers always find the highest places? After dinner I came back to the log cabin to find him prowling up in the rafters!

The star of the show today is this award-winning Hiroshima okonomiyaki. Can you smell it? The supporting cast consists of fuwa fuwa yaki,hotate(scallop) saute with basil,mushrooms and butter,and a big glass of beer!
