Today was a songwriting day with Shanti. She was gracious enough to join us at Avenue. Everybody loved her sweet voice. It was a nice change from all the male singers who perform there!

MicroSoft Party！

Hey Everybody! today`s event for Microsoft`s Blue Dragon Game debut release party was too cool! 400-500 people were grooving to the Philip Woo band,featuring Brenda Vaughn. Im not a gamer,(who has time?)but maybe I will try a little bit after I saw Blue Dragon last night. Special thanks to Richard Newman of Microsoft for the excellent organization,great staff and splendid hospitality!

ANA EVENT

Shika-go,Shika-go! The theme for this Event was Chicago. Bad joke! Only nihonjin will laugh,neh? Still these horny guys were nice enought to pose for a photo.

MIDAS LIVE

Before Midas live,I had arranged to meet my friend Harriet,who is in from London,for dinner. By coincidence(guzen ni),I discovered this lovely,funky restaurant! My favorite restaurant in Shimokita has opened a new branch in nogizaka! O-O-O-O-O-----Oishikatta! Frodo and Gandalf of Japan happen to work there,and gave us a fun time.





Here we are,in Roppongi,getting very funky and soulful at Midas.
Our Stevie Wonder festival is in full effect! Our guitarist,D-Money is from The Village People`s original band. Bassist Greg Wilson is from Cincinatti Ohio(and is also a fine singer),and of course you know Glynis Martin,the smooth soul singer.





Lovely and talented,this is Chiyotia.Look for her new CD release soon.(I played harmonica,and piano)She came with friends to support me!





This is Harriet! She is in music publishing,and is a jet-setter. She is constantly travelling around the world,and just moved from Hong Kong back to London. All the guys were googly about her! Is it that sexy British accent?





Its 2:30 AM and all the Roppongi people are dancing! We had a great time! Actually I know most of you cant come out after midnight,so I have arranged with Midas` owner that the next Midas party will start at an early hour,and end in time for the last train! This way,my favorite music lovers can come to Midas. Next year,I will have such Roppongi events,featuring all my favorite soul singers.

La cana Live！

Today`s live at La Cana was more Gospel,Jazz and Bluesy. Everybody enjoyed Brenda and I,but also,Shimokita friends,Shoko,Quinn,Guri,and singers were excellent. I am really proud of Shoko,who is my student! Good going Shoko!






Lately,Brenda & I are moving toward playing and singing the best of soul music,and not trendy,or current music. We will find our place in this world by doing what we do best! Im glad that there are people like you who continue to support our efforts. I feel best when I can play what is most natural!

MIDAS

Well! Midas show was so much fun. Donyale,a fabulous singer gave us all a great show. Her soulful style had the crowd standing up and screaming!
Of course everybody was excellent,James Norwood,Hank and Jay Stixx! Today`s menu was loose,and songs stretched out for long,funky,sexy and soulful arrangements.






Ive got the world in my hands! Thanks,Midas for having me and the band. We will be at Midas again on Nov.30th,this time with Glynis,for the Stevie Wonder,Donny Hathaway and more style show.

COTTON CLUB ２nd day！

Before the show,we are relaxing. The Cotton Club has the best dressing room,food,and the nicest staff that anyone could hope for!






On this day,our final show of Philip and Roy Ayers reunion,everybody was really happy. I could see the audience response to our songs,and feel the communication between all of the musicians onstage.






Isnt my band great? I appreciate everybody`s "issho kenmei"(extraordinary effort). Hank,Cliff,Jay and Robbie;Thank You! I love you guys!







With my main"lady soul",Brenda Vaughn! Congradulations backstage. Roy and I are excited about future projects. Recording,touring...Whats next?







After the concert,we talked,and talked! Nobody wanted to say goodbye so quickly,but time goes by so fast,desho? Motto ippai tanoshii live yarimasu yo! Tanoshimi ni mattete.

COTTON CLUB １st day！

Before the 1st show: Roy and I are talking about all the people we knew together,and Roy is drinking "omisoshiru"! We have not talked in so many years,and we had so many interesting friends.

We hope to open our musical relatonship again from now,and we feeel such a good vibe together!







Ubiquity Reunion! We are so happy to rejoin this feeling after all this time. The magic is still here,and we will have a great show tomorrow night!







Tonight, I could see so many happy faces out in the audience. I know that the chemistry was good,and that onstage,we could have great fun.







Today,I felt love from all of our fans.Many people were "hajimete mi ni kimashita"! I hope that everybody can feel Philip woo`s love for music,and continue to stay with me!







We had a great show,1st and 2nd,but we cant wait until tomorrow!
We love to feel our audience,and respond with feeling!

宮崎 DISCO NIGHT

Miyazaki was great fun. The audience was so happy to see me,Brenda,Cliff,JR Robinson and Hank. Koshi Kishita came from Kagoshima to see the show. He had a good time!






We ate so much delicious food after at uchiage,then went to Tougo san`s "Shouter" Soul Bar,and partied until the morning!

Mobius

Tonight`s show at Mobius was a great one! Our crowd was so into our groove! This was the first time with Ebony,but I can see that it will be a long time relationship. She is such a great singer,and has so much feeling. Just what I like to feel!Ishinari was excellent as always,and we cuold feel such good vibes from the audience!






Ebony has a great jazz sense,as well as R&B! With Ishinari-kun,we had a natural groove.






At Mobius,I feel free to express myself,and bring a groove with just an acoustic piano. I can be everything I want to be without drums or bass(just here ). With a sensitive singer like Ebony,I can create any groove exactly how I want it to be,at a moments notice.

Hatsushima! By boat from Atami,yesterday`s job was on this tiny island. I could go to this beach,and smell the clean air!







Are you uraymashii? I ate delicious food! This is abalone (awabi). I ate so much food! Matsutake(dobin mushi),sazae & lobster sashimi,and every Japanese foods that I love!

I could do one of my favorite relaxing things to do. Hiking! Its so nice to mix my job with fun. Just for a little while,but to get away from gray Tokyo concrete for a day,was great!

CHA CHA 満員再び！

Well,well. Glynis Martin broke his voice yesterday,so I called his brother Albert. We had to change our song menu at the last minute,but the show was good anyway!







The Cha Cha House was full of people (again!). What a nice feeling! Im getting to know many of you! Everybody was having a good time,and grooving to the music. Its good to see that instrumental music can be fun,too!

Clap your hands everybody! Get on up and dance,y`all. This is my favorite part of the night. Cha Cha house is a great place to play,and a great place to enjoy music. I will come back in December. So, plan to celebrate New Years with me!

Soy Soul Live

Last night`s and tonights Soy Soul live was great! All of SoySoul`s fans were happy,and every band member was excellent. I talked to many people in the audience,yesterday and tonight,and I was surprised and amazed at how many know about,and read my blog! Also,many of you have come to my live show! This is so heart warming to me. I will promise you a good time,when you come to see me! Thank you so much.

Sorry,I did not bring my camera again,because I had big fun,and I wish you could have seen it,if you were not there.

Charity Event

演奏が始まる前の待機中の１コマ。　今回のイベントは、乳がんに苦しむ方のためのチャリティーイベントで、運営資金のためにオークションや、ゲーム、ファッションショーなどが行われました。　大勢の方々が今回の呼びかけに賛同し、大成功でした！　コーディネーターのブレンダも一安心だったのではないでしょうか。
多くの著名人の姿も見られましたよ☆　ちなみに写真右下の男性は、千葉ロッテマリーンズのボビー・バレンタイン監督。






照明がおち演奏が始まると、誰からともなく皆さん一斉に、前中央へ自然と集まりダンス。　ホール全体が幻想的な雰囲気に包まれました。　80％が外国の方、残り20％が日本人。　色とりどりの素敵なドレスがフワフワと舞って、まるで無数の熱帯魚が水槽の中を泳いでいる・・・そんな感じでした。






(写真は後姿なのでちょっとわかりずらいですが)準ミス・ユニバースの知花くららさんの姿も。　とてもキレイな方でした！






そして彼女が今回のSpecial Singer "Alyson Williams"。
以前、久保田利伸さんの曲"Forever Yours"でもデュエットしている、実力派シンガーです。　今回はこのイベントのためだけに、アメリカからわざわざ飛んできたそうです！　彼女のオリジナルソング、アレサ、ＪＢなどなど、エンターテイメント溢れる素晴らしいステージでした！

男性控え室とはうってかわって、女性のドレッシング・ルームの華やかなことったらなかったです！　静寂とは無縁でしたよ(^o^;)　本番の前にBand Member&Singer全員が集まって、皆で手を取り合いテーブルを囲み、Showの成功を祈っていたのが印象的でした。
Robbieは11月５＆６日のCOTTON CLUB、Donyaleは11月16日のMidasでPhilip Woo Bandに参加が決定しています。　引き続きCheckをお忘れなく！　楽しみですね☆
