As a composer, the art work should be so I think.
I remember that when I had not great review about my first opera on New York Times long long time ago, I was very disappointed about it and kind of shocked because I thought the performance went pretty well and better than I was expecting in the end. Then my professor, who came to the performance, said to me “if you got a good review on NY Times, it means a bad music, you know?” He thought it was well done. I was glad to hear that. Anyway, they preferred to listen to sound like Japanese folk music, which is sweet or catchy phrase.. It was nothing I’m interested in anyway.
I don’t care about other people’s reaction so much in general. Of course, it’s nice to see what people think, though.
The most important thing is how and what I create each time.
I need to struggle myself each time……….
