シールの初のベスト盤。デビュー・アルバム「シール」から「シールIV」までのヒット曲や映画のサウンドトラック用に提供した曲に加え、新曲「ウォーク・オン・バイ」を収録。この「ウォーク・オン・バイ」はディオンヌ・ワーウィックのヒット曲のカバーで、トレヴァー・ホーンがプロデュースしている。
米国盤では初回限定特別仕様として、新録のアコースティック・ヴァージョンを収録した2枚組CDとして発売された。このアコースティック・ヴァージョンのプロデュースもホーンが行っている。全米チャート47位、全英27位。邦題は「シール／ベスト　1991-2004」。
シールは、2007年11月に4年ぶりのスタジオ5thアルバム"System"を発表。このアルバムのプロデュースはホーンではなく、シールとスチュアート・プライスが担当している。
