ダレル・ロイヤルの手紙

ダレル・ロイヤルはその昔テキサス大の
アメフトコーチです。

彼の名言で感動しました。

この手紙は彼がテキサス大のコーチをしていた時
夏休み帰省中の選手たちに送った手紙です。


最初は英語でみてみましょう。

On the field, anyone will taste humiliation once or twice while playing.
フィールドでプレーする諸君等の誰もが、必ず一度や二度の屈辱を味わされるだろう。
A player that never suffered from it doesn't exist.
今まで打ちのめされた事が無い選手等、存在した事は無い。
But the first-class players, as a tribute to all their efforts, will quickly stand up.
しかし一流の選手はあらゆる努力を払い速やかに立ち上がろうと努める
The average players will stand up after a little while.
並の選手は少しばかり立ち上がるのが遅い
And the losers, will keep lying down on the ground.
そして敗者はいつまでもグラウンドに横たわったままである。”

なんかいい。今のボクにはささるよ。
