Marimokkori

Another quality character from Japan's northest major island, Hokkaido.

Marimokkori is a play on two Japanese words:

- Marimo, green algea clusters that grow in some of Hokkaidō's lakes

- Mokkori, is a Japanese slang term for a male crotch (buldge)

Just like the Mighty Tanuki, Marimokkori is particularly well-endowed.

These two I picked up are modified versions representing Kyoto and Shiga prefecture.

Momo Chan Kiki-Ippatsu

Momo Chan is the character of the e-mail program, Post-pet.

"Kiki-Ippatsu" means "in the nick of time / a close call".

I believe there are many games similar to this,

where you keep pushing swords into the barrel until

someone hits one that makes the center character fly.

Rip and Destroy

Why are these KISS posters torn?

Since I became a fan when I was eleven years old, I collected posters and pictures from magazines and gradually covered all four of my bedroom walls with images of my favorite band. I was proud of my collection on display. But my mother was an emotional basket case with occasional sparks of hysteria and violence.

One day, my mother exploded her rage upon my collection and when she was through, nothing survived. My bedroom looked like a scene from Apocalypse Now and my body looked like it went three rounds with Mike Tyson. I don’t remember what triggered that particular explosion. It might have been a poor report card or one of my sister’s mishaps but safe to say, it was not worth the tragedy that fell upon a teenage boy’s small kingdom.

I did not cry. I did not even get angry. It was my fault for displaying my treasures where it could be easily destroyed. I just swore that in the future, my collection will wait in boxes until I have a place of my own that I can truly protect. The collection has grown since then, but it is still waiting in boxes.

And why do I keep these worthless torn pieces of a bad childhood memory? As a reminder that no matter how terrible people may treat a person, you can protect your heart & soul by not stooping to their level…..plus what a bitch my mother is.

なぜ破れたキッスのポスターの写真？

十一歳の時ファンになり、雑誌からの写真とかポスターで自分の部屋の壁をすべてキッスのイメージに染めた。嬉しかった。ただ甘かったのは母は時にはヒステリーと暴力に狂う事を幼い僕は計算に入れてなかった。

ある日、もう忘れた何だかの理由で母は僕の壁の宝をすみからすみまで破り千切り、終いにはあざが残るほど僕の体に怒りをふるった。理由はともあれ、僕の自慢の部屋は永久にこの世から消えた。

不思議に泣かなかった。怒りもしなかった。宝物を簡単に壊される所に飾った僕のせいでもある。ただその日以来、大事なものは飾らないようにしてきた。少なくとも、自分だけの居場所を作るまでは。そのときよりも宝物は増えたが、今でも箱に眠ってます。

ではなぜこのちぎれたポスターをまだ大事に持っているのか？思い出すためです。どんなひどい目にあっても相手の低レベルに落ちなければ自分のハートは守れる、、、そして母みたいにはならないように。

Calculator & Pen

As I work in numbers, one of my mentors used to tell me:
"always carry a good solid and reliable calculator that
does not require batteries and has a nice big key pad
to avoid mistakes. not one of those scientific calculators."
