Difference Between American vs British English

Apartment and Vacation sound more of the continental European. Honestly, it may be my first time to learn the word "Faucet" as I have always used "Tap" e.g. for tapped water, and I used "Kraan" (Dutch word) in Japan. Americans in WW2 named chips (English) / frites (French) "French fries" even though it was Belgians speaking French frying potatoes to eat. Actually, these "frites" are more popular in the Northern parts such as Dutch speaking Flemish region of Belgium and The Netherlands. The more interesting staff is that Scottish English has unique vocabularies e.g. loch meaning lake, close meaning a narrow array, etc.

Defence. Licence. Practise. Fulfil. are the vocabularies I am used to. When I use Aubergine (French words but also used in Dutch speaking area) while visiting the USA (Also cool to use Zucchini, the Italian way to say Courgette) and Singapore (Hey! British English is supposed to be the official, right?), many of people did not understand.
